Zoya says "kuch khayaniya kabhi poori nahi hoti, unki kismat mein adhoora hona likha rehta hai (some stories are destined to remain incomplete)"

Asad responds by wanting to hold her hand. My opinion is that in that moment, just when he hears Zoya's words, he decides to complete their story and that is why he is about to hold her hand in his. It wasn't merely a gesture of consolation but rather it was his response to a wake up call in Zoya's words. It seemed like he realized the finality of decisions and time, he realized that life doesn't offer multiple chances and that when you yearn for something, you should use the chance to make it yours. It was an affirmation that he desires to complete her and that she, too, fill the void in his life- he was offering her his hand for life.

He retracts his hand because he sadly realizes that if she intends to go back to New York, there is no point in taking such a bold step at the moment.

What did you think when you saw the scene? Am I reading too much into it- did he only mean to support her or did he mean to hold her hand as a life partner?

ps: I liked how they pulled the dialogue directly from the mangalpur background song O
Saiyyan: meri adhoori kahani, lo dastaan ban gayi

I see what you mean. Personally, I thought it was just a consolation from his side maybe because I'm not good at analyzing stuff, that's why. You might be right. I would love to have him feel that way though. Right now that look he gives is stuck in my head and I wonder how he'll stop her. he has to have a strong reason!

OMG! I just watched the precap again and now I am having double thoughts! Just when she finishes her line, he's about to hold her hand but she says she should go back and he holds back too. DAMN! This is heart-breaking!

I kinda agree with you! I too felt the same way.. He holds back BECAUSE she tells him that she needs to return to NY... He pulls away, heartbroken nd shocked... It was right THERE on his face!!!!!

I think at the moment Zoya was upset and tearful, Asad reacted with his heart. He wanted to reassure her that he would always be there for her, he understood her sorrow but as soon as she mentioned her intentions of leaving, he came back to senses...his head took over once again. He knows that once she leaves, he would lose her forever. That's why he didn't want to get too emotionally involved with her. He became the old Asad again. Hope the new Asad would rule tomorrow...Zoya needs him more than ever although i feel this would be the most inappropriate time for him to confess his feelings. It should happen more naturally, when Zoya is not as vulnerable. Right now she needs support and a friend more than a lover.

I thought he was supporting her but again I'm not good at symbolisms and analyzing. But do you think Asad is ready for that kind of commitment with Zoe? He needs to accept his feelings first then admit to Zoe na? I don't know but bheegi provided an awesome response as usual.

I don't think he is consciously ready for such a commitment but he has also reached a point where he is not closed to the idea of such a commitment. He has changed a whole lot for her (his dialogues, his pranks, his overall attitude) where as it is Zoya who has not changed as much as he has.

But I agree with you Siri- we need Asad to freely and happily acknowledge his feelings, their permanency and his need to have Zoya with him regardless of how different she might be. Bheegi's response makes a whole lot of sense!

Bheegi you make a whole lot more sense with your explanation!! You are most likely correct.

The only thing I hesitate to agree with is the underlined part-that he became the old Asad in that moment...I think he just looked like a heartbroken lover in those few seconds who couldn't think straight. He seemed too upset to be able to make such rational choices That intentional distancing might come a few days later, not so immediately. 😳

😆

I don't know anymore, Kiran! I definitely think it was more than consolation (but perhaps less than an expression of his desire to be life partners.) The reason why I feel so is that he could have simply kept a hand on her shoulder to console and comfort her or he could have even given her a sideways hug with his arm around her shoulder but for Asad to hold a girls hand like that is a big deal in my eyes.

However, Bheegi's explanation is making sense now that I've read it!
