Tanthya, lovely kicker post and I found the whole discussion very engrossing.

Broadly I find myself aligned with Dreamygal on this particular interpretation. Krishna has had a cataclysmic shock - the revelations have turned his life upside down, his views, and everything he thought about himself even. Also no matter how politically correct we might want to be, the heart and the gut cannot, must not be denied. I would rather Krishna took time to come around to the facts and accepted Pratigya whole heartedly rather than present lip service. I remember, in fact, reading a story where an urban civilised man accepts and supports his wife after a rape and then later, simply can't adjust to the fact - it ruins their every interaction and they break up. Our politically correct ideals are not very deep, relationships cannot be sustained on 'should be'.

Even so, Krishna has declared his stance even louder than words by dragging Pratigya INTO the house rather than OUTSIDE it. That, there, is his first position. If, after this, he needs some time to overcome his revulsion at the THOUGHT that his wife was violated, I can understand it. Although, of course, as a feminist and romantic, I fully expect him to do just that and will be severely disappointed if he doesn't.

I don't know why he said tum hamari nazaron se gir gayee ho in the promo and I hope he won't be repeating that in the serial. From what has happened so far, it seems to me like Krishna is dealing, processing all this ugly informaiton that has just come to him. I didn't realise there was such a wonderful discussion here, and put up this post /thread:

A woman who is raped is not pure? A woman who is physically a virgin but has adulterous thoughts is pure? Did Krishna feel she betrayed him because she did not trust him enough to tell him the truth of the kidnapping before or because she may have been tainted by Angad? His words indicated he was more disturbed by the possibility of the latter. That makes his claims to love her ring pretty hollow. In fact if he truly loved her and thought she was raped by that scoundrel, he would weep for her not for himself. I would have been happier if he had voiced his disappointment in her, that she did not trust him enough to come out with the truth. I would have applauded him if he had said why did she underestimate his love. Could it not have handled a shameful thing such as the kidnapping. Well, at least we know that Krishna is merely a slightly better version of his bro and father. The basic filthy thinking of the Thakur household seems to be too strong to be rubbed off, even from the lovelorn Krishna.

Opti ,

In india, esp in suburban and rural India...virginity has a lot of value and is considered to be the hallmark of chaste woman ....and it is a big deal for these people ...that is how the system works ur and mine progressive thoughts will not be accepted and we will be told this will work in city but not in our town..

Right now Krishna is not crying for Pratigya but crying for his lost illusion ..for months he thought her to be perfect , he used to think of her as an ultimate women, a tigress , a straight forward and honest woman ..he was the devoted and blind priest of Pratigya ..and to realize that his God has feet of clay , to know that his god is flawed ....to know that this girl lied to him ..O dear ..what a shock it must be [Agreed she never said she was a God, but she did harp about sachayi ] ...End of an illusion ....

second, he was under te impression that she married him for love ...but know that she married him to avert a scandal ...a second shock

third, he is personally acquainted with Angad and his chamchas ..he knows their thought process and their ways...to expect any one to believe that Angad and his goons acted like the proverbial angels and did not even touch will not lead to automatic belief and trust esp when juxtaposed with the fact that her father agreed to shell out the money and also agreed to see Angad at some lonely hill top rather than lodging an FIR.

And remember , Pratigya lived with her parents for 20 odd years and yet her parents did not believe her when she said that nothing happened on that fateful day ...witness the fact that her father turns away from viewing the pics..had he been truly trusting he would have snatched the photo from Angad ,had a look and fulminated at him and gone...but Krishna has been living with her for a couple of months..and he knows that there is something she is hiding and that previously too she has hidden many things and she is capable of lyng to him ...when u take these things ..Krishna's mistrust seems rational ...

plus, look at the time span..it is all happening within a span of a day ...one cant recover from any emotional turmoil within a day ...Time will heal ...

Oh, Krishna loves Pratigya ...if he did not...he would not have stopped Shakthi , he would not have declared her to be his wife and neither would he have stopped the cruel treatment ....he is listening to her explanation, is reacting to it ...he has not shut her out completely ..Love is there ...and it will emerge once the bitterness wears off...

Pratigya needs to wake up to how good she has it, its hard to find someone that can love you that hard, i also want her to realise how great Krishna is so she can start treating him better, poor guy needs a loving and caring wife i mean look at his family, he needs someone to love him in a civilised manner😆 (pick me pick me)

Great discussion! 😃 Great thread, Tanthya. 👏

Bubble, I loved your post here as well as at - http://www.india-forums.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=1453336
I agree with you wholly.

I also agree quite a bit with Dreamygal. I find myself not so much finding defenses for Krishna's behaviour but really trying to understand it.

We have Krishna's verbal reactions and then we have his physical reactions and then we have his social reactions.
I think we should pay greater attention to the larger decisions he has made and how he is reacting to Pratigya's proximity rather than go by the literal meaning of his words. I think there is a lot to be read between the line in this case. Like Dreamygal said, he will now talk as he has been expected to because of the sort of things he has heard being uttered since he was a child and the usual expectations of a man in his position. He is saying these things as if on automaton, but are his actions like the rest of his family?

In reacting to Krishna's words and behaviour, I think we should take our cues from Pratigya herself!
In explaining herself to Krishna and saying repeatedly that nothing happened she is not so much trying to clear her name as much as calm him down. She is not treating him like an angry husband who has to be manaoed or mollified but like a grief-stricken child who has had the shock of his life and needs to be handled with care. I think she sees him very clearly.
That for a man who has never known fear, the idea that someone may have attacked his beloved Pratigya when he was alive and around has chilled him to the bone.
I agree with Bubble, that he is too scared to even see her face because it is bringing to mind images too horrible to bear. Basically Krishna Singh has had a massive scare and it will take sometime for his heart to beat normally. (BTW I LUUUUBED the way Pratigya stroke his heart over the quilt, as if to say, it is all right, everthing will be alright! 😳😳😳)

Yes, Krishna has been upset for not being trusted and for being married for the wrong reasons without love, but I think that the biggest jolt has been the IDEA that Pratigya may have been violated. NOT because it may make her impure but beacuse he can't bear the idea of something like that happening to her. Yes, they will go on about PAVITR / APAVITR 🤢 but I think they both know that between them (as against for society) it is all about love and fear rather than about expectation and distrust.

Bottom-line is this-
Krishna is going to SPEAK like the product of his background and upbringing for sometime till he has recovered himself.
Krishna is going to ACT and REACT exactly as per the dictates of his heart. A heart that has just discovered its true depth and colour only now! 😳😳

Just like we waited for Pratigya to overcome her anger, hurt and fear, we should wait for Krishna to overcome this great shock.
