DM FF ~~~*** Dark Destiny ***~~~ (Episode 15- Good Luck Charm)

The story focuses on the life of Sathya. Her father arranges a marriage for her with a business tycoon Karthik, the only son of Annapoorni. An economic crisis for Sathya's family forces them to make some parts of the jewellery with fake gold. Annapoorni stops the marriage once this is discovered and this huge shock causes Sathya's father to die. Sathya's uncle gives a helping hand to the rest of Sathya's family by offering a place for them at his home in Chennai. Saroja is constantly at conflict with Shampoornam and Dharani which makes Sathya feel that it is better for them to live someplace else. Devraj helps them move to a new house and he pays the rent without Saroja's knowledge until Sathya gets a job.

Meanwhile the members of Jai Hind Villas are introduced. Prakash wants to run the family and so his only ambition is to earn more than his anniyar, Gayathri. All he knows is her monthly salary and he shows no interest in her work position or location.

Part 1 - Scene 1

Dharani is reading the sports section' of the newspaper. She is holding the newspaper centimetres from her eyes and pronouncing each letter slowly to figure out the sentences. Sathya comes.

Sathya: Dharani, can I have the paper for a minute?

Dharani: You have to wait for your turn, I got it first so you have to wait until I finish.

Sathya: I don't want the read the entire paper.

Dharani: Neither do I

Sathya: (jokingly) by the time you'll have completed that, tomorrow's newspaper would come.

Dharani: I lost my glasses

Sathya: Are you sure that's the only reason?

Dharani angrily hands Sathya the newspaper and scoffs. Sathya flicks the paper to the job vacancy' page. Shampoo joins the two. Sathya recognises the person who came to her finishing school.

Shampoo: (hopelessly) where are you going today?

Sathya: I recognise him; (pointing at the person) he came to my finishing school and offered me a place in his company. Dad refused me to work but I'm sure he will give me a place if I see him now.

Shampoo: You're right, go now and see him. I'll pray that you will return with good news.

Sathya prepares to leave and sees Dharani looking at the open space with a sad face. Sathya bends down.

Sathya: (smiles) Did I make my sister angry?

Dharani turns away from Sathya

Sathya: I was going to buy a box of laddus' but if you're not talking to me then no-one else will be able to finish the box.

Dharani turns to Sathya and gives a slow, steady smile.

Dharani: I'll eat it. It's been a year since I had one. Buy a large box and I'll eat every piece except three; one for mum, one for you and one for Anjali.

Sathya returns a smile to her and leaves.

Part 1 - Scene 2

Prakash is waiting for his gang outside a tea shop watching a cricket match. Sathya is waiting for a bus near the tea shop. Sathya is looking around and finds someone staring at a woman providing milk for her baby. She is fuming so approaches him hastily and gives him a slap. Everyone turn their attention to Sathya even though Tendulkar is on 99 runs not out.

Sathya: How can you do this? You have a mother, and the likelihood is she would have done this to you. How would you feel is someone did to your mother what you are doing now?

An onlooker: What happened here?

Sathya: This nuisance was staring at that woman while she's feeding her baby.

The guy: You slapped me in front of them without knowing who I am. No-one has even talked back to me when I'm out never mind slapping me. This same crowd will now witness my revenge.

The guy nears to touch Sathya as Sathya gives him a harder slap. This frustrates him so he pulls Sathya's scarf. She stumbles and falls down, the guy approaches her as someone touches his shoulder from behind.

The guy: Oh, we got ourselves a hero! I'll give you an advice; all the people here are standing there doing nothing for a reason. Follow them little guy.

Prakash: I'm angry that they are standing there watching this disgusting act. You're advising me to do the same.

The guy: You don't want to start trouble without knowing who I am.

Prakash: I don't want to know who you are other than the fact that you are a criminal. What can you do if we all turned against you? You are here now by yourself so you really don't want to get on the wrong side of us commoners.

The guy: Who here is brave enough to turn against me?

Everyone takes a step forward.

Prakash: (putting his hand on the guy's shoulder) I'll give YOU an advice; all the people here have taken a step forward for a reason. Run away little guy.

The guy: This isn't finished, I'll come back for you (looking at Prakash) and you too (looking at Sathya who still hasn't got up)

Sathya is surprised and stares at Prakash as the guy runs away. The crowd gathers around Prakash and congratulates him and offers lots of praises. Prakash walks towards Sathya and offers his hand to pick her up. Sathya's and Prakash's hands unite...

Episode 2 - Scene 1

Prakash offers his hand which Sathya quickly grasps onto. She is helped up. Their hands are still joined as...
The woman: ... Thank you ever so much for helping to maintain my honour. You both have great hearts and God will be with you for the rest of your life guiding you to choose the right path. There is no value for greatness and you both are just great.
Prakash and Sathya are both happy and accept the woman's praise. They tell the woman their name (which gives an opportunity for Prakash to learn Sathya's name) who wishes them a fruitful life with a loving wife and many children. The crowd clears off.
Sathya: (surprisingly) Oh no, I hope I haven't missed the bus.

Sathya hastily breaks off the holding hands.'
Sathya walks to the bus stop with Prakash standing motionlessly for a few seconds.
Prakash: Sathya, do you believe in love at first sight?
Sathya stops and turns around mid-way between the tea shop and the bus stop allowing Prakash to catch-up.
Sathya: Huh, just because you saved me you expect me to fall in love with you? Do you think that it is my duty to spend the rest of my life with you?
Prakash: No, that's not what I hoped to get across at all. The moment I met you I had a sensational feeling, a feeling I never experienced before.

Sathya: (puzzled) you experienced a feeling?

Prakash: It might sound crazy but...

Sathya: Tell me about it...

Prakash: I love you

Sathya: You hardly even know me, how do you know you love me?

Prakash: I know that you stand up for justice as you single-handedly went to slap that man. I know that you are respectful as you could not stand to see another woman's honour deteriorating. I know that you are brave because you did something that no-one else in that crowd did.
Sathya: (sighs) Look Prakash, (she pauses as the bus approaches) I have a way to test your so called love. We'll go in our own path from here with no contacts exchanged and if we meet again I'll root the cause for that to your powerful love. Let's see if your love is powerful enough to twist fate. Let's see if your love can bring you to me again.
Sathya walks away with Prakash remaining there thinking.

Prakash: Sathya

Sathya turns around with a smile as she couldn't believe what as happened.

Prakash: I have full confidence that we'll meet again, (smiles) in fact I am so confident that we'll meet by this time tomorrow.



Scene 2

Sathya approaches the office and asks the receptionist to see the MD.
The Receptionist: Do you have an appointment to see the MD?
Sathya: No, It said that we didn't need an appointment to see the MD on Wednesdays.
The Receptionist: I know ma'am but the ones who have an appointment get the priority. Please take a seat until you're called.
Sathya waits and goes to see the MD once she is told to.
Sathya: Sir, I don't whether you remembered me but you saw me at a finishing school near Pollachi and offered me a job.
The MD: (thinking - how can I forget you, your dad treated me unforgettably) Yes, Sathya, is it? What brought you here?
Sathya: Ah, so you remember me well - I saw your vacancy advert in the newspaper today and seeing you made me remember your offer. I want to work in your company.
The MD: (ironically) But Sathya, what would your father say?

Sathya: My father is no more sir, (sighs and looks down) my family depends on me and I depend on getting a job.

The MD thinks hard as Sathya reveals her bio-data. She passes it on to the MD who takes a good look at it.

The MD: It's evident that you possess the skill needed for this job but you do lack experience in the field. It's better for you to gain some experience for the rest of this week. From next month on you will receive your full salary and be an official employee of this five-star hotel.

Sathya nods.

The MD: For this month, you will work under one of my trusted employees.

The MD calls the reception as he wants Prabha to come to his room. Prabha knocks and enters. The MD introduces Sathya to Prabha and tells her to teach Sathya the proceedings.

Prabha introduces Sathya to her co-workers who are all happy to see a new addition to their colleague list. Gayathri overlooks this and is frustrated that no-one is working. Gayathri walks towards the group.

Episode 3 - Scene 1

Gayathri continues to walk towards the crowd. She spots a new girl.

Gayathri: (to Prabha) who is this new girl?

Prabha: This is our newest member, the MD appointed her in my department to fill one of the two vacant spots in our company.

Gayathri: He appointed her without even consulting me.

Sathya: I don't see...

Prabha shushes her indirectly

Gayathri: You are new here, you better quickly learn of my influence around here before you learn anything else. I might only be the GM of this hotel but I have more power than the MD. The MD always asks for my recommendation and I don't like anything that enters this office without my input.

Prabha: Sathya is only on an apprenticeship course, I'm sure that the MD will discuss with you before he decides to make her a full-time employee.

Gayathri gives a benefit of the doubt and walks past the two

Sathya: What an arrogant lady she is, it seems like we are going to clash often.

Prabha: She mistakenly thinks that the whole place revolves under her feet.

Sathya: Well time to put the GM in her place then.

Prabha and Sathya laugh and start to do their work for the day

Sathya returns home with a box of sweet. She feeds a laddu' to her mum, Shampoo which is overlooked by Dharani.

Shampoo: What's the special event?

Dharani rushes to the two

Dharani: How can you not work this simple thing out mum? My sister here went to get a job and she returns with a sweet box after 8 hours. (Smiles) She has a job, am I right?

Sathya: Yep, my darling sis is once again right

Dharani smiles and sneakily snatches the laddu' box.

Sathya: (to Shampoo) our hard time will go away soon, it's a job with a good pay and I'll make sure you live like a queen once more.

Shampoo: (sighs) these kinds of wishes ran away with your father. Now all I want is for my three angels to live like a queen.

Dharani who is already well past the half-way mark in munching the full box of laddus' gives a big smile to Shampoo

Scene 2 - Next Day

Prakash is sitting opposite of the MD.

The MD: I don't know how I am going to repay you?

Prakash: It was nothing really.

The MD: I don't want to shame your great help by giving you a lump of money just once. I want to do something that will be with you for a long time.

The MD thinks

The MD: I have an idea... Do you have any job?

Prakash: I am currently unemployed

The MD: How do you like to work in my company? You'll have a wonderful time and receive a great salary.

Prakash: I have a plan to work as a government employee. I have made some plans to take a test.

The MD: Oh, ok - I'll think of something else to give you in return then

Prakash: It's really great of you to make me the offer...

The MD: That would have been one of your colleagues.

The MD points at Sathya who is walking along the corridor past their room. The position of the blinds enables them to see Sathya but she cannot see them

Prakash is shocked and after thinking for a while gives out a smile

Prakash: Now that I've thought about it, I feel that it is better to accept a job offer that is coming my way. It is difficult to find a suitable job nowadays and who knows how long I need to wait for a government job if I refuse this one.

The MD: (happily) welcome on board Prakash, I'm very glad to have someone like you working here. I'll call Sathya and Prabha to come here so you can have an introduction with your co-workers.

The MD picks up the phone as Sathya enters the room. She is shocked to be greeted by a smiling Prakash. She looks at the wall-clock which strikes twelve, exactly twenty-four hours after the challenge was set.
