Episode 5 - The First Slip

Scene 1 - Gayathri's Cabin

Gayathri is flicking through Sathya's bio-data

She learns that Sathya went to a finishing school

Gayathri (I.T): Huh, how could she use this as a qualification to work here? She has basically learned how to be a servant of a male, why don't she go and do that instead of coming here and torturing me?

Gayathri's face glows with envy and anger

She knocks the bio-data to her right forcefully and the stapled paper make a disturbed landing on the floor next to the wall

She picks up the office phone and calls Prabha to come in

Prabha knocks the door and enters

She notices the scrambled bio-data

Prabha: Any problem?

Gayathri: No, no - come, have a seat

Prabha: So...

Gayathri: Where do I start? (Pretends to hesitate) I read Sathya's bio-data...

Prabha (I.T): I can see (looking at the papers on the floor)

Gayathri: ...and had a conversation with the MD, I have a bad news to break to you.

Prabha (I.T): It's only a surprise if you have something good to say

Gayathri: The MD feels that Sathya's talent will be of better use to the hotel, and he feels that once she is trained your salary is a waste of expenditure for the company. So, he made a decision that this is your last week.

Prabha turns serious

Prabha: (shocked) what? How is she more talented than me?

Gayathri: She went to a finishing school.

Prabha: What's that?

Gayathri (I.T): Phew, time for me to do what I do best

Gayathri: It's an elite school for elite people, people like Sathya.

Prabha: I've been working here for much longer than her. Her talent can never match my experience. This is so unfair.

Gayathri: Life is unfair but I have a way for you to make it fair

Prabha: I'm listening

Gayathri: You scheme to get her out of here which will get rid of your competition. Then your job is safe.

Prabha: How do I do that?

Gayathri: That's for you to figure out; I have told you what I needed to say.

Prabha storms out

Gayathri gives an evil laughter once she leaves

Prabha closes the door, and outside the cabin Prabha bursts into an uncontrollable laughter

Prabha: How idiotic must she be if she thought I'm going to fall for that? How in the world did a finishing school become an elite school? (Laughs)

Scene 2 - The Finance Department

Prakash and Sathya come to their cubicle to find Prabha missing.

Sathya: She's a busy person, so..

Prabha joins the two

Prabha: I don't know if anyone told you this Sathya but you're not allowed to bring your boyfriend in to the office. (Laughs)

Prakash laughs too

Sathya: (angry in a friendly way) Boyfriend? Maybe you'll get a chance, he's the newest member of our department.

Prakash and Prabha introduce themselves to each other

Prabha: Has the MD checked it, (looks around) where is it?

Sathya: (puts her hand on her forehead) I knew I forgot something; I'll go and get it.

Prabha: It's alright, I'll go. (Cheekily) Don't want to disturb the quality time between you and your boyfriend.

Sathya: Stop it! (Laughs)

Prabha: Oh print another copy for archiving.

Sathya: Ok, I promise that everything will be perfect this time.

Prabha leaves

Sathya approaches the computer to print

Meanwhile Prakash thinks of a scene in IPKKND where Sanaya Irani slips into the hands of Barun Sobti.

He is happy of the memory and finds a water bottle

He pours a little bit of water on the floor between the computer and printer and positions himself to his right, closer to the printer.

The printer starts printing

Sathya pushes her head closer to the printer as a way of telling Prakash to get the papers

Prakash: I'm alright

Sathya: Fine, I'll get it this time

Prakash smiles

Prakash (I.T): Wait, I'm at the wrong side, I need to catch her as she is falling back. She won't trip forward she will slip backwards.

Sathya walks past the wet floor without tripping or slipping

Prakash (I.T): Huh, how come the heroine falls so successfully in movies?

Sathya gets the paper and returns to her computer

On her way, she slips backwards and drops the papers

Prakash is excited and catches Sathya

Both share eye-contact, only for a brief time though

Gayathri: (over-looking the incident) Prakash! (Shockingly)

Prakash in shock drops Sathya who falls on her back

Sathya: Ow!

Prakash and Gayathri give a shocking look to each other.

The suspense is deliberate, I start off with a suspense, the last line/lines of the chapter and work the entire episode around that. 😉
The Tamil audience is missing such scenes so it was really easy for me to write it, I cannot even think of a movie where the heroine falls into the hands of a movie, anyone???

This being Sun TV, Prakash and Sathya chances of romancing is very very little. If Vijay TV think it's alright to allows the dubbed versions to have 'romance' then they should be ok with their original serials also having 'romance' scenes that is more than looking at each other, holding hands, etc.
