She should have used different words. Quite the inarticulate one.

Honestly, it's fine if you don't but I don't understand why she has to bring in the Kapoor tag or say things like "don't need to prove my love". She could just say I can't stay hungry for that long and end it at that. Can totally see why this irks people...it's a little insensitive to those you strongly believe in performing KC for the long lives of their hubby. A great deal disrespectful from her end.

Either way, I like to give her the benefit of that doubt that she used the wrong words and her intent wasn't to sound so aloof.

yes, this karva chaut can be a very debatable subject. those who celebrate, let them, lets not disrespect them, however i find it kind a wierd too, why a woman has to fast for her man's lambi umar but the man don't have to do this.

i even watched one old hindi movie where the wife had to wash her husbands feet and drink that water. and guess what, later that husband kicked with those feet; on the karva chaut he made an entry only after having a good time with a hooker.

very very cunning world.

Thankyou for saying that...Really if someone finds any of these customs or rituals...as regressive or cruel or sexist...then don't observe it ...but please do not mock people who do it willingly and happily...There are women who can not be FORCED into doing anything against their will...and they choose to do it...Not every custom and ritual can be equated in terms on man and woman equality...u don't like it...don't do it...simple...

If u find a woman who is being forced to do it...go and save her...but please do not mock the millions who put their faith in this...

Coming to Kareena...I am not even mad at her...she is not smart enough for me to get mad at her for making such idiotic comments ...she is expected to make such statements...

Well I think she's perfectly entitled to such an opinion. However she should perhaps be more considerate of a patriarchal society which vows itself to be offended over the littlest of things. 😆

I must have missed that one. Never heard or read of such a thing. And I've read a lot on this Saif-Bebo love saga. Dont think I even once recall Kareena even implying that Saif slit his wrist. Tattoo, yes, slitting wrist..errr...no. He doesnt wanna die.

No we are not criticizing her for not believing in Karwachauth ...I for one am not...I am criticizing her for indirectly MOCKING and making fun of this ritual...who millions of women believe in and WILLINGLY follow...There is a big difference between putting forth ur views on a subject in an educated and articulate manner vs making a mockery of a age old ritual ...I will bash anyone who will make fun of my faith and beliefs...that is my right...but yes you want to have an educated debate on it ...I am all for it...

Am sure her intention wasn't to make fun of the ritual. She's Indian herself and is very proud of being Indian. She's just being defensive and said I don't need to starve to show my love for my husband. I don't see how thats making fun or looking down on ppl who do it. To be honest I think ppl are making a big deal out of nothing.
