The next day, Kumud woke up to a bucket full of water, literally. She thought it was Asad's prank once again when she saw him smiling at her from the door. Little did she know that he was smiling sheepishly and not normally since he had messed up the very first plan of his mission? His original plan was actually the water falling on him when rose petals would fall on her and this would happen simultaneously but Ayaan had pulled the rope a little too early and she had gotten drenched. Now he was seriously worried and decided to take matters into his own hands rather than depend on his idiotic brother.
While he was thinking, Kumud had already gone into the washroom along to have an actual bath and to have a change of clothes before she fell ill had she had to go to school from tomorrow.
"What does he think of himself? He's supposed to be apologizing to me but he's just pestering me a lot more now. Asad! I thought I'll forgive him but now, no way in hell or heaven I am going to forgive him," she thought to herself. After thinking again for some time, she muttered, "I might forgive him if he does something very romantic but that's not possible for him." She shrugged and then finished off with her bath.
As soon as she came out of her room, she was greeted with the smell of something burning. She went down the stairs when all the lights suddenly went out. She groped the thing nearest to her and was glad that it was the sofa. She sat down on it and after a few minutes of struggling to open the curtains, she finally opened it and let the sunlight wash over her face.
She walked around the house calling out for everyone when she saw the kitchen. It was filled with food of all kinds, from Chinese, to Italian, from American to Indian food. Not seeing anyone around, she decided to taste the pizza nearest to her and as soon as she had a bite, she suddenly started coughing.
Asad popped out of nowhere and filled a glass with water quickly and handed it to her while rubbing her back. Kumud spurted out the water as soon as she drank it due to her coughing and all the water landed on Asad. Miraculously, Kumud's coughing stopped immediately and was replaced by her laughter. And once again, as if she was having mood swing, she started glaring at Asad.
"Asad, were you trying to kill me? I mean, seriously? That pizza was so spicy and to top it all, you've actually put sugar instead of salt. Did you even taste it? Thank god I didn't have anything else," Kumud scolded Asad in one go while Asad stood there meekly like he was her student.
"Only God knows how her students handle her. She really is Lady Hitler. I wonder how she's like this. Her family is nothing like her. They're all calm and cool people. She's the only one with anger management problems. Maybe she was born with defects," he chuckled lightly at this to which Kumud raised her eyebrows. "What did I say which you found so funny Asad? Huh? Share the joke. I would love to know," she told him, curious as to why he was laughing.
Asad gulped and stammered, "Nothing. And to answer your question, no, I wasn't planning on killing you and it wasn't me who put the sugar in the pizza and I put just two tablespoons of chilly powder so it was probably Ayaan or Nuzhat who did this. They keep spoiling my plans to apologize to you. Even in the morning, they poured the water on you instead of me. Stupid kids don't even understand!"
"Whoa. Pause right now. You were trying to apologize to me and here I was thinking you were playing some kind of prank on me. Thank god you weren't because then I would have had to use my brain to take revenge and it would have the same thing as before, all over again. By the way, where is everyone?" Kumud finished.
"They've all gone out so that I can pacify you and now we have the whole place to ourselves. What do you think we should do?" saying this, he slowly went closer to her. She walked back and back until she hit the sofa. Asad stretched his hand towards her and went towards her waist. Kumud gasped and then Asad brought his hand back to show the remote. "So, ready for a Tom and Jerry 'marathon? I had Ayaan record it last night so hopefully he did it properly.
"Oh I'm always ready for Tom and Jerry. Bring it on! And did you have something? You're suddenly turning romantic Asad. You're not taking tips from Ayaan, are you?" Kumud asked him with a glint in her eye. Asad shook his head vigorously indicating no when the truth was he had been taking tips.
Just when Asad switched on the TV, he heard the doorbell ring. He groaned and said, "These people don't even let us spend time together. Now who is it?" Kumud chuckled at his reaction while Asad glared at her and went to open the door.
When he opened the door, he hugged the person in front of him without second thoughts of Kumud being there. Kumud, curious to see who it was sneaked up on him and asked, "Asad, what's going on?"
He shrugged and replied, "Kumud, meet Tanveer, my best friend since childhood and Tanveer, meet Kumud, the love of my life."
"Hello Kumud. Nice to meet you yaar. Jammy told me so much about you. I can't wait to get to know you better." Tanveer told her with a genuine smile on her face.
Kumud just smiled back at her and gave "the look" to Asad which Asad did not notice. Seeing Tanveer's bags and her use of his nickname, Kumud just raised her eyebrows while Asad shrugged, indicating that he had no idea.
