Post Kesar life has actually been extremely hectic simply because when one has been the mainstay of a successful daily soap for 500 plus episodes, one tends to become complacent and develops a false sense of security. Hence I've now unsettled myself and am venturing out into certain risky untried propositions which involve extra hardwork.
Your co-star Nandini Singh and you are not doing Kesar because you two refused to shoot together and the producers had no choice but to replace you...
The truth is that, as far as Kesar is concerned is that I had put in my papers three months back. I still have a copy of that. I challenge anyone to work under the stress and circumstances that I was dealing with in Kesar for reasons known to the entire world. So yes, it is absolutely true, that Nandini and I were not working together because that's what was advised to me by the people who really matter. And as a professional, my prime responsibility is not to in any way jeopardise the interests of the production house. Especially, when they have identified the problem so well and have come up with such an amicable solution. What I really appreciate is that Shobhaji herself said that if I carried on shooting without Nandini for three more months then she would come up with some solution to end our tracks. And that's precisely what happened. And about sacking me, when I spoke to Ekta (Kapoor) the next day we had a hearty laugh and she said 'Yeah! I have sacked you for something better'.
In hindsight, do you think you and nandini could've sorted out your differences amicably?
Well that's the first thing I proposed — a dialogue. But I guess she is far beyond that. And I am genuinely saying that she should be left alone. And I have said that before because, obviously, Nandini is going through some personal unsolved stress/trauma. Far too many people in the past have tried to gain undue publicity out of this.
