I agree wid u dat its annoyin for us, who may or may not hav heard somethin lyk dat in daily lyf.
But, d fact is, dat wad dey show is true. ppl in daily lives do say things abt d complexion.
Wadever it is, probably dey could hav shown somethin different by handling d issue positively.
At the end of d day, e1 if its fiction, der is inspiration frm real lyf n v cannot do anythin abt d dact dat such discrepencies DO exist.

but yeah, zoya's line is gettin very repetitive

Well, the whole "dark skin" "light skin" nonsense started many years ago (according to what I learnt in History) when people who were the lower class worked outside, forming tans (by working in the blazing sun) and those who were richer, didn't need to work and so they were light skinned. The change is skin was to show who was rich and who was poor. However, now the whole idea has changed even western people want to become tan so they go on holidays in the heat to show that they have the money to do that whilst others may just buy fake tan.

In terms of Asian culture, it seems as if they still have that same view but it has altered a bit to where the dark skin is deemed less "pretty" than the light skin one. And it's true, it does happen. I'm sort of dark, but not that dark and some of it has come from being out in the sun. I do get comments here and there but they're mostly from older generations. But even that has died down. I hardly get anything from people who are my age or in the modern generation and if I do it's just as a general comment not exactly aimed at me (which I don't mind) and if someone does say anything extremely bad which is really rare then it's someone who I don't know well or someone who is just a jerk.

The thing is, this whole idea of colour of skin has started to fade away but those who are elder to us still somewhat talk about it. I don't think what the CVs are doing is offensive because it is showing what the effect of "skin" can have on a girl like Nikhat. And yes, I loved what Nikhat's family said that "it's not about the appearance but how a person is." Which I totally agree.

You just have to read between the lines.

Having dark skin isn't seen as a "problem" only in India but all over Asia, Middle East and Africa. The amount of bleaching creams sold in these areas are plain ridiculous!

It's sad how girls with darker complexion have to suffer because of some dumb prejudice. But I'm seeing changes in peoples thinking, espeically in the younger generation. They don't care abou skin colour...thank God!
I suddenly remember my younger sisters friend. She was very dark but had a heart of gold and she's was a pure joy to be around. When her time for marriage came about 6-7 years ago a lot of women (thank God not all) made comments on her complexion. Imagine their surprise when the girl got married to the most fair skinned boy out there. I almost felt like doing 'na na na na' and stick out my tounge towards anyone who hade made negative comments previously. Now she and her husband are still happily married with children.
Times are changing!!! And I hope what happened to my sister's friend will also happen with Nikhat in the show.

For me Nikhat is perfectly beautiful. Her complexion is not even so dark as the character was supposed to be.
No offense to anyone, but I think she looks way better than her other sisters in this show.

P.S.- I don't have any prob with Zoya's "Allah miya..." dialogues. In fact i enjoy it.
