I agree too. I haven't seen that many movies of the 3 actors mentioned but even though YC was a director/producer,we feel more attached to him and his movies.

I do agree..it's something I've been thinking about because honestly, while I felt very sad when Shammi Kapoor, Dev Anand, and Rajesh Khanna passed away, something about Yash Chopra's demise hurt far more. I genuinely surprised myself at how emotional I got yesterday and even today I've been sad.

It probably does have to do with the fact that we, the 90's generation, actually grew up and lived through Yash Chopra's films, his banner's films...DTPH, DDLJ (as producer though I would argue it carries a very obvious YC stamp), VZ were all childhood loves for me that I would watch again and again...and some others like Chandni, Kabhi Kabhi (though they came far earlier)...in some way, these WERE Bollywood for me...and in a way, Bollywood just doesn't seem the same for me now...like there's something missing, a big void.

I respect the other 3 tremendously and quite love their works also, but that comes through more because of my parents and grandparents. They were far more affected than I was, which makes sense also because they grew up with their films..

I don't agree that its the first major loss for 90s

yes Rajesh khanna , Dev Anand , shammi kapoor all were frm earlier generations but i grown up watching old movies as much as current ( current of 90s that time )

I watched all 60s, 70s and 80s movies on TV whenever they used to come and i used to be as excited to watch those as any new movie ( of that times ) bcz that time there was no YT etc where i cld catch those old movies any time ... Shammi Kapoor, Dev Anand , Rajesh Khanna , dharmendra , Amitabh bacchnan , Firoze khan, Mithun da , Rishi Kapoor etc were part of my childhood and my grownup years as much as Khans , deols, kumars ,Govinda etc

I felt as sad infact more Sad for RK, Dev saab , Shammi kapoor may be bcz they were in front of the camera and felt more attached to them

I completely agree! I was in major shock yesterday. I grew up on his movies; and wasn't able to come to terms with his death :(

Exactly,Dev Anand, Rajesh Khanna, Shammi Kapoor all were great actors, quite big legends but i had never seen too much of them.

On the other hand i have grew up watching Yashji's movies, from Deewar to Daar,Chandni to Veer Zara and these movies have been my very favorites and are really close to my heart.

I am surprised by the fact how low i am feeling for the last two days,its still hard to take in the fact the Yashji is no more.

Right now i am just listening to songs from DTPH and Veer Zara which i love so much and remembering those beautiful moments created by Yashji.

I think its a major loss to Bollywood but to say Yash Chopra is the biggest loss to the 90s generation is little bit far fetched...

I am a movie buff..and i will watch any movie...on TV/DVD/Theaters...so i did not grow up watching only 90s cinema...i love old movies because those movies had content..

If anyone on IF say Yash Chopra made better movies in 90s/21st century i think they are wearing SRK colored glasses. Yash Chopra just got caught up with King of Romance title by media..

Yash Chopra movies were way ahead of time..hard hitting movies...with a different way to show romance which will be remembered for ages...For many movie buffs Yash Chopra is the man who gave us Dhool Ka Phool...Dharamputra..Waqt...Itefaq..Daag..Dewar...Trishul..Mashaal...Kala Pathar...Darr...Lamhe..Chadni..Kabhi Kabhi...These movies never i say never will get old..

IMO STPH and YZ were not upto YC standards...those movies will be remembered for songs rather than being Yash Chopra movie...Next generation would laugh at those candy sugar movies IMO...

Yes I totally agree with u!! His filmmaking was very much alive during the 90's so this generation is feeling the loss!!

I actually feel like the "biggest loss" but has been misinterpreted.

I didn't mean that the quality of his films is at a different par as compared to the others who have passed away

what I meant was that simply, this generation was alive, when the Yash Chopra label was at its peak.
