Vijay's wife Sangeetha files a NEW PETITION requesting an INTERIM COURT ORDER amid viral pics with Trisha

Vijay’s wife Sangeetha Sornalingam has initiated legal proceedings for separation after more than 25 years of marriage. According to a recent report from the news agency ANI, court documents reveal that Sangeetha filed a petition in early 2026 with the District Court in Chengalpattu. The petition seeks to dissolve their marriage and includes a request for interim residential rights.

The legal documents name Sangeetha Vijay as the petitioner and Joseph Vijay Chandrasekar, known as Vijay, as the respondent. The case is registered as an Interlocutory Application within the S.M.O.P. proceedings of 2026.

Sangeeta seeks residential rights

The petition, filed under the Special Marriage Act of 1954, seeks the legal dissolution of their marriage, which took place on August 25, 1999. The filing also acknowledges their earlier legal marriage registration in the United Kingdom in 1998, preceding their wedding ceremony in Chennai the following year.

In addition to the divorce petition, Sangeetha has requested an interim order to continue living at their matrimonial home on Casuarina Drive in Chennai until the case is resolved. The petition highlights that she is a British citizen and does not have another residence in India.

The request for interim residence is made through an Interlocutory Application to ensure housing security during the legal proceedings. The petition alleges that in April 2021, Sangeeta discovered Vijay's alleged "adulterous relationship" with an actress, leading to emotional distress and a breakdown of marital trust. It further claims that Vijay continued a public association with the actress, including on overseas trips, causing embarrassment and emotional hardship for Sangeeta and their children.

The affidavit and petition were signed by Sangeetha Vijay and her counsel on February 22, 2026. The Chengalpattu court has issued a notice to Vijay, requiring his appearance in the case.

Sangeetha filed for divorce from Vijay after 26 years of marriage, having married in August 1999. They have two children, Jason Sanjay and Divya Shasha.

The petition alleged Vijay's involvement in an extramarital relationship with a female actor, which Sangeetha discovered in 2021.
