I v seen lots of ads on indian television ,for fairness creams showing that a girl reaches success or boys notice her after she uses some fairness cream ...

in my opinion this is a very very wrong message to portray and in any case i think this stuff is actually quite harmful for the skin in the long term.

What do u think ?

i dunno if someone else has posted a similar topic be4 , if it's so , my apologies 😊

my opnion on that:
i think that the adverts for beauty adverts are cheating the public. They use beautyful girls for the advertisements. They show lovely models with pure skin, shiny hair, blue eyes and great clothes putting on cream and saying things like 'YOu'll look younger by the minute'. Why cant they show somebody who has not yet used the product?

Beauty is only skin deep, i mean 50 years later after that guy marries his "fair" girl, she aint gonna be so pretty and fair anymore. People who base their marraige on fairness and not true inner beauty will never be happy because they have married someone who is a trophy to them, and not someone that they can fall in love with. I definetely think that these ads are misleading that you could find happiness if you're fair. Its like girls looking in a magazine and wishing to be as skinny as the models. IT IS A DISEASE, and one that really needs more concern than it gets.

People need to realise that we cant change skin color (unless ur crazy like micheal jackson, that's when i would reccommend proffessional help) and we may be able to change our skin color temporarily, but not forever.

MY mother always lectures me about using haldi and things like that, (i'm not dark but i'm not fair either), since my mother is one of the fairest people you have ever seen, and my dad is as dark as ajay devgan. My parents are an expample of people marrynig for external beauty! My mother is still very beautiful,(people always think of me and her as sisters and not mother and daughter) and my parents love each other very much, but this is not the case in many marraiges.

IF u have the time , do check out this article titled 'FAIR FACTOR ; the whiter the better '

https://www.thedailystar.net/magazine/2006/05/02/cover.htm

I agree with usachick , that this obsession of being fair is a problem that does not get enough concern as it shud ..

the sad thing is its difficult to knock sense into ppl who r too stubborn to give up their narrow way of thinking

In India, generally fairness is equated with beauty. It is embedded in our thinking. Sad but true.
