Mahishasur is not introduced because Durgama appeared with the combined energy of all the Devas. After killing Mahishasur she merged in Parvati & appeared from her when Devas prayed to her to save them from Shumbh, Nishumbh. That's why we may not see Mahishasur in this show.In that case, they should have introduced Mahishashur this week, rather than Shumbha/Nishumbha.
But problem remains - Mahishashur can be killed before Tarakasura, no problems there, but Shumbha & his group can't. But to kill Mahishashur, they need to show him as actually persecuting the 3 loks, otherwise Ma Durga would simply look vindictive for going out to kill him on a whim. If he persecutes the 3 loks, then doesn't he have to occupy the throne? Or are they just going to put him into a joint venture w/ Taki?The CVs need some quality rakshashologists in their group.
