"So Blair Waldorf is finally getting married." Teased Arnav in tone seldom heard by even those near and dear to him, as he watched his wife try to convince Chuck Bass to fire the empire new French cook for having called her precious jalebi's a blight on his menu.

Blair who was similarly observing the current situation with no little amount of amusement , pointed out, "Well apparently I'm living in sin otherwise."

"Uh-huh." Came the smug non-committal reply.

"What about you 'dad' when were you going to tell me?" she snapped irritated at his Raizada nonchalance , only to watch the man who smiled less than Chuck Bass himself break out into a ear to ear grin he seemed to have been holding in.

"When she tells me." He quipped.

Blair blinked. For a second she was stuck wondering how it was that he was talking through that gash in his mouth which stretched out in that curved line seemed decidedly carnival creepy , not that he looked bad, quite the opposite actually but it was a bit unnerving to see a shark smile. Once she'd got past the unnerving smile bit, the words registered, when she told him, she looked back up at him in disbelief, "She can't not know'"

Arnav Singh Raizada however, was too busy observing his wife to do anything but smile a little wider as he recalled his wife's shocked reaction to how babies were made and let out a low chuckle.

"She doesn't think it's odd that'"

"She does." Arnav quickly interrupted, before Blair decided to go into a detailed description of feminine woes, "She is scheduled with an appointment tomorrow. She thinks it's something she ate, or the time warp."

And sure enough the very exclusive French Chef marched off in a jalebi-induced huff, as Khushi Singh Raizada formerly of Lucknow, gave Chuck Bass an approving nod. Blair Waldorf merely watched in silent amusement -"Are we still on for dinner?"

Arnav who was now back to concealing his huge cavern of a grin, nodded, "Of course."

* * *

"You're in an awfully good mood," whispered Khushi with a suspicious squint of her eyes as she looked at her altogether too handsome-for-his-own-good-husband over her shoulder, skipping a light step ahead of her curiously doting husband, as he half smiled at her childish antics, merely ushering her further from the edge of the sidewalk as she walked.

Not that he expected her to let it go at that. Sure enough within moments she was inches from his face, her gloved hands poking first at his shoulder, than deciding it was not painful enough over his thick overcoat on his nose'or she had aimed for his nose what she succeeded in doing was very nearly poking his left eye out.

From the quick widening of her eyes and her adorably childish wince, it was evident she was expecting a sweeping ASR set down, or at least a nice warm glare. What she was not expecting was her temperamental husband to catch her offending hand in his and brushing it with a kiss.

Her eyes now narrowing to silts Arnav wondered at the intricacies of a God who allow an absolute angel like her to be tied to a incarnation of every broken commandment, such as himself. He thanked it none the less. For her. And for the blessing she hadn't quite realized they'd been blessed with yet.

He watched with adoration, as his slightly insane bride decided to evidently test the boundaries of the his newfound patience by pointing to a horse drawn carriage with an impish smile, only to watch in shock as he shook his head silently in a 'No.'

"Why?" she teased her hand catching on his upturned coat collar, daring him to scold her, to tell her she was absolutely insane and that he would not be caught dead in a horse drawn carriage, even if she was the one asking.

The thing was when it was her ' it was always yes. Except now.

Now he needed her to safe. Away from unusual bumps and bruises, one hand snaking out to catch her to him as he leaned down to whisper gravely if falsely, "I'm afraid of horses."

"You were playing polo with Chuck last week!" she shrieked half in amused hysterical laughter half in shock.

Arnav Singh Raizada merely watched her gravely and waited. A minute later his wife, who had been near hysteria in choked giggles, suddenly sobered, "'Are you serious?"

For a second Arnav Singh Raizada thought that his years of practice with his bland emotion free face would be for naught and then'

"Oh Devi Maiyan!" she suddenly gasped, her tiny porcelain hands reaching up to cup his face, "You are afraid!" She didn't even bother to let him confirm his newly acquired inadequacy before she pressed a quick kiss to his lips in apology and looped her hand through his arm, "We'll walk!" she proclaimed brightly taking a pretty step forward , and behind her Arnav Singh Raizada followed.

Chapter Twenty-Two

- Heartbreak Warfare -

Waiting outside in the dark was not exactly a foreign occurrence for Damien. Waiting outside in the dark for a man on the other hand was.

Not that he had to wait long, he had barely crushed his half burned cigarette under his very long shoes, that Arnav Singh Raizada strolled into sight.

"Uncle."

"Damien."

"Dad?"

"Aasha."

"What is he doing here?"

"What are you doing here princess? Where's lover-boy?"

Arnav could practically feel the vein in his forehead begin to throb as he bit out firmly, "I need to talk to you. Both of you." He clarified.

Oh gee'wasn't this going to be fun.

* * *

"I need to talk to both of you. And I do not have time for petty teenage rivalry or-

"I am not a teenager anymore '" cut in Aasha sharply only to be quelled by her father's slight narrowing of his eyes. Quickly deciding silence was going to be her best-friend she turned around primly and perched herself at the corner of the bench they were all standing around, crossing her legs elegantly under her, mutely telling her father as clearly as she could that she was listening.

Out of the corner of her eye she watched Damien, shift so he was leaning against one of the lamp-posts lightening the clearing, his shadow melding with hers in a way much to significant for her liking, while her father stood stoically, as he waited patiently for both of them to settle in.

Little did she know, within moments, shadows and lights would be the least of her worries.

The tinkling laughter from the table for four, turned heads for quite a few reasons. The least of which was the obscene amount of estimated wealth it currently harbored. In fact when one turned, it was hard to turn back, Blair Waldorf the soon to be Mrs. Bass, after the very public pregnancy scandal which turned out to be as false as Pastels making a comeback this Fall, was radiant as a soon to be bride her classic Audrey Hepburn curls falling artlessly of her shoulder as the off shouldered white evening gown. But no matter how radiant a bride Blair Waldorf would soon be, she wasn't what was making it difficult to turn one's eyes away from the table, despite the possessive look in the eyes of both of the tables men. Her silky straight hair falling in a curtain to the base of her spine, darkly kholed eyes fixed on her husband as she pursed together blazing red lips in mockery of an exaggerated kiss, Khushi Kumari Gupta -Singh Raizada defined exotic beauty.

She wore her bright red saree with unconscious ease in the sea of black and white, unafraid of being ostracized, and much too happy to care even if she was. For while her friend was radiant in the angelic white sheath she had adorned, Mrs. Raizada glowed with a fullness one could not tear away from.

Red had always been a favorite color with the Raizada's, one supposed it was the height of irony that 'red' would be staining their laughter irrevocably mere hours later.

Damien felt a chill go down his spine as he realized exactly how far his Aunt had gone with what he had initially thought was merely a Raizada game-plan.

Even turned away from him, he could hear the rawness in Aasha'a fathers voice, he could see the devastated shock, as Aasha processed the implications of what her father was saying.

Her eyes shining with tears, as he watched her connect the many observations that had never made sense "Mom was pregnant? I...I had a ..?"

"Sister." Her father clarified, the catch in his voice making Aasha look up sharply.

Damien watched mutely as he realized the tears streaming down Aasha's cheeks were as much for the sibling she never had as they were for her father, she was crying for him.

His eyes closed for an impossibly long second, opening to an explanation that made him realize this 'opportunity' was not a simple Waldorf-Bass scheme to help him or Aasha. Aunty K was breaking her heart with this- and more importantly she was risking breaking her husband's trust.

"After the miscarriage, your mother...went into a decline. The loss of the baby, not knowing she was pregnant to begin with ... all of it ... it got to her, she began withdrawing from everyone. From me. It took her years to get past it. Pregnancies, babies ... they still remind her ... "

* * *

" ... they still remind her of her. Which is why I called the both of you here today. Your mother isn't depressed this time..or at least she seems not to be ... she's too distracted with something else... "

Aasha Singh Raizada would normally of picked up on her father's weary pauses, but right now her mind was too busy trying to process what he's just told her. She had a sister. A Jeeji.

In fact so engrossed was she in that particular revelation, that she hardly heard a word her father had said until Damien sharp, "Us?" brought her out of her reverie.

"What about 'Us'?" she asked, her eyes drifting to Damien's unconsciously.

"She's distracted with 'Us'." he clarified his gaze still steady on her fathers, oddly calm, as she probed with a deep sense of unease-

"What 'Us'?"

* * *

"Your mother is under the impression that the two of you are engaged." Arnav bit out, as he turned away from the unusually perceptive Bass to look at his outraged daughter lose her usually well practiced poise.

"I ... we ... what?! How?!"

Arnav raised knowing eyes over her shoulder to the unusually calm man behind her, as he intoned coolly "I have my theories. But that is beside the point ... isn't it Damien?"

The young man to his credit, did not so much as flinch at the barbed comment, instead smoothly turning his own words against him, "Theories are redundant at this point, aren't they now Uncle? The real question is - if Aunt K is distracting herself by telling herself we -," he pointed smoothly at himself and Aasha, who was still trying desperately not to hyperventilate, " are engaged, and is holding on to that, should we be telling her otherwise? And if we did what would we be risking?"

"Nothing." He bit out firmly. "We will be risking nothing because you will be telling her nothing. As of this moment you two are a happily engaged couple until I say otherwise."

Aasha who had till now maintained a stuttering silence finally shot out of her seat, her hand waving aimlessly to emphasize her hysterical, "I am engaged!"

"Who matters more to you?" Arnav asked in a cruelly detached tone, as he forced his daughter into one of those impossible situations he had spent years protecting her from.

"Daddy that is not fair ... " she whispered in a horrified half whisper, that made him want to reach out and pull her into a hug and tell her he would fix everything.

"The world's not fair Aasha. What are you going to do about it?"

Her strangled gasp, pulled at his heartstrings, but still he stood strong, even when he heard her stumble backward a step, even when he heard his princess turn and run away to mask her flailing composure. He turned back only when he heard Damien Bass step forward to follow her ... "Wait. I'm not done with you yet."

* * *

Damien knew the second he was asked ... or rather told ... to stay back that Arnav Singh Raizada knew more than he had let on in front of Aasha.

But then again ' he was Arnav Singh Raizada, any less would have been anti-climatic.

His arms crossed across his chest as he stood mere feet away, he stood silently waiting for Aasha'a father break the deliberately heavy silence .

Moments later, after an intense minute of observation that made Damien feel unpleasantly like an animal in a laboratory, Arnav Singh Raizada finally deemed him worthy enough to pose a question to-

"Do you realize Damien ... that you have proposed to my wife at four, broke my daughters heart at 19 and now at 26 you are somehow involved in this sham engagement in more than the obvious sense ... I wonder what you would say if I were to tell you to give me one good reason not to put you six feet deeper into the ground you're standing on?"

Damien felt a reluctant smile tug at the corners of his lips ... Never let it be said that Arnav Singh Raizada did not know how to play the game.

His brow quirking in imitation of the man he was about to antagonize, he replied, -"I believe I'd have to say ...I have excellent choice in women ... Uncle ... "

Khushi smoothed a tender finger over the downy hair of the carefully cradled bundle in her arms, her eyes battling to hold back tears, as images of another beautiful little girl floated through her mind.

She had never told her husband, but for a long time after she's lost the baby she used to pretend she was still there. Inside her.

She would imagine what she would look like, what her first words would be, what she would be like, what her smile would look like.

She had even planned a wedding outfit for her once, a beautiful pink lehenga ... baby pink.

Things her little girl would never be able to do.

She looked up to find both Blair and Chuck watching her with that pained expression she hated so much. Until Chuck finally answered in a husky undertone, "We named her Eva. Eva Alyssa Bass."

Khushi smiled. Her forefinger now in the firm grasp of the youngest Bass, she put away her memories both real and imagined away, as she looked down as Ms. Eva Bass and smiled.

reserving after ages!!!:D

reserving after ages!!!:D
That was an amazing update!!!!I LOVED it!!!from the beginnig to the end!!
Oh gee'wasn't this going to be fun.
Maybe not for them but for me it was fun!!!😆
Tell me if i got this right...khushi knows that aasha is not engaged to damien but she is making arnav think that she thinks that aasha is engaged to damien so that aasha will have to leave that poor excuse of fiance of hers and remain fake engaged to damien so that damien gets enough time to make amends...

and obviously damien and aasha cant go and tell her that they are not engaged because then khushi who is already going through an emotional phase because of the pregancy will be more depressed...but in reality even though khushi is feeling a little low on seeing the adorable eva bass because she had a miscarraige before is not so heartbroken and is doing all this for her buba...phew...was it right???

if yes...then hats off to khushi kumari gupta singh raizada for the brilliant plan that i bet even asr couldnt think of in. A hundred years but if its a no then...ummm...ahemm...welll...ill just go and read all the chapters again...😆

I loved how arnav pointed out all the reasons for burying damien alive but more than that i loved his reply...you are making me sway from asr to damien...a little😆cmon...the asr attitude plus cheeky replies is hot, okay??

I felt soo bad for aasha...she got everything that she wanted since she was born and now not getting the most important wish and to top it all...she comes to know she had a sister...must have been a hard blow!!!but she is strong...im sure she will come out with more defiance !!im hoping for a chuck bass- aasha conversation...😊May be that is what she needs...

Overall the aasha-arnav-damien conversation was too good and i loved the name...eva...its really nice!!

Oops!!!sorry for such a lamba comment...never realized i wrote soo much!!😆

RESing with great pleasure!

Wow, what an update!! Was waiting for one for so long.

Fantastic face-off between the father and the young man, loved D's repartee about having the best choice in women- cheeky sod!
The picture of Khushi in red in the midst of the white and black around her was a terrific image. It was good to know a bit about ASR and KKG's marriage which while rapturous is laced with the sadness of the loss of a child. Eva Alyssa- what a pretty name.

wow! loved it! i loved arnav-damien face off... lol. and awee i feel bad for aasha... she's still in the shade of the real intentions behind arnav's revelations... well they are after all her parents, they have to stay a step ahead...

i'm still confused as to... does aasha's parents or the bass couple know about her engagement? or have they met her fianc??... i mean with arnav and chuck hovering around her, they would surely have problems with the guy don't they???
