Letter regarding #SaveNavya Campaign for Rika

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am Ritchelle, and I am here on behalf of all the fans of Navya from India Forums as well as the other parts of the world. It has come to our notice that the show Navya is going to be axed, and its last episode will be aired on the 13th of February. This show is being axed to make way for another show called Sajda Tere Pyaar Mein.

This news has been a huge blow to the fans of Navya all over the world. Navya is a very popular show on SP and it has touched the hearts of many. The story of two young individuals and how they fought to keep their traditional values alive as they tried to absorb the modern ways of the 21st Century. This was like a breath of fresh air from the usual saas-bahu sagas that SP normally airs. This was one story that everyone could connect to, be it teens, young adults in their 20s or women in their 40s. This is one story that is extremely realistic. The parents can connect to the emotions of Deepak and Meeta Mishra, the youth can connect to Anant and Navya Bajpaayee and their friends Ritika, Appy and Ranbir. The people with marital discord can connect to Renu and Mohan. This list can go on and on, but I'm sure you don't want to read an essay about all that.

There is no legitimate reason for SP to axe this show. While it did start off with extremely high TRPs, and no one's denying that TRPs have fallen over a period of time, it is sheer stupidity to deny the fact that with the wedding track, the TRPs have been soaring, and I mean literally. Like from 1.90 to 2.31 and now the latest TRP states that it is 2.53. There are some other shows on SP which have prime time slots, and they garner TRPs that are much lower than that of Navya's, but they're allowed to run, and they've had a longer run than Navya! I mean, they've even been granted an extension! On what basis? If TRPs was the sole reason for which SP is going to axe Navya, then I think that the shows with lower TRPs need to be axed first, and only THEN should Navya be axed!

There are a few reasons as to why Navya shouldn't be axed, and they are as follows:

1. Navya is the newest bahu of SP. She just got married like last night. Her marital life has just started! We need to see how does she adjust to the her new life and how does she instill the Nayi Soch into her new family!

2. Navya is a show that represents the voice of today's youth. It showcases how the youth in India struggle to balance their age old traditions and yet keep up with the modern ways of the 21st Century. And we know that Anant and Navya Bajpaayee have succeeded in doing so, and both of them are a role model for the youth of today.

3. There are a lot of unanswered questions in the plot that have to be solved. For instance: Nikhil is supposed to be a bad guy and he's not right for Nimisha. So don't we need to see that track? Renu and Gautam are in the midst of getting a divorce and he's being a jerk. Don't we need to see how does Renu teach him a lesson? Rama STILL suspects Mohan and Renu. Doesn't she need to realise that Mohan is only hers?

4. Everyone knows the immense popularity of this show. Its FB pages has tons of fans, its TRPs have been shooting up, people watch it like SO often on YT and DM and on other video hosting sites, and what not. Isn't that enough?

5. There's a #SaveNavya campaign going on on Twitter, and a FB page asking SP not to let Navya go anywhere. Doesn't that show the popularity of the show?

6. Certain shows (I shall not take the name here) have lower TRPs than Navya, but they're not being axed. Instead, they've been given an extension. So isn't it like unfair if Navya (TRPs of 2.53) gets axed, but these other shows stay on air for another half a year or so?

7. The new tagline of SP is Rishta Wahi, Soch Nayi. Navya is the only show that supports a Nayi Soch. I don't see what is so Nayi Soch about shows where the bahus are being tortured by their saasus because they're educated, or stuff where the lead pair hasn't fallen in love even though they've been married for over a year, or a show where the MIL is insecure because her son favors his wife more than her. We've been seeing such stuff from the days of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki. Navya brought about a breath of fresh air into the telly industry, and you're trying to stifle this now?

I'm not here to demand that Navya should be aired. While I do believe that Navya needs to be saved for the various reasons stated above, I completely understand that there has to be some reason for the channel to axe Navya. And with this letter, I'm just trying to ask the channel to let us know the TRUE reason as to why do they want to axe Navya, cause as of now there has been no legitimate reason for doing so. The moment we get a PROPER and LEGITIMATE reason for doing so, we shall stop the #SaveNavya campaign. But till we don't get a legitimate reason, we shall continue to fight against the injustice that is being done to Navya. Cause it is clear that Navya has been the target of some dirty internal politics, cause of which such a popular show is being axed on such a short notice. I mean, Navya Mishra Bajpaayee has just gotten married, so it is absolute stupidity to axe the show at such a crucial and pivotal point in the track. I mean, the story has technically just begun! Its now that we see how does Navya have to adjust in her new household, and how does she change the ultra-orthodox views of her husband's family!

I hope you understand our request, and you forward our message to the needed authorities.
