ABANDONED

"Dev, dev, are you ready?"

"Yes Geet," dev said while coming out limping, "I am here."

"Hey baby, are you feeling okay?" Geet asked while keeping her hand on his face.

"Yes, sweetheart," Dev said while giving a smile, "when you are with me, nothing can go wrong," giving a peck on her lips.

"Now come on, we have to go." Geet said while helping him out of the house and taking him to the car.

"Yeah, yeah," Dev said while rolling his eyes.

Geet wacks him on his arm and says, "Dev, you know how important this is."

"Yes sweetheart, I know," while taking her in half hug, "now come one, otherwise you will say it is my fault."

They both come out of the house and enter the car. Geet helps him in sitting on the passenger seat and gives him his cup of coffee, after which she goes and sits on the driver seat and starts the car.

While sipping his coffee in the car, Dev restlessly moves around and starts looking, "Oh God, where is it?"

"Baby, what is it?" Geet asks.

"Oh no, honey I think I forgot my book," Dev says while still looking for it behind his seat in his laptop bag.

"Dev, can you please stop moving, it will hurt your leg."

"But you know how much I love that book and I will get bored without it," Dev said in a sad tone.

"Baby can you look in my purse, I think my blackberry is there," Geet asked him while checking her trousers.

"Sure honey."

He picks up her bag, and as he opens her bag zip he finds his book there.

He smiles and says, "Oh Geet, what would I do without you."

He goes towards her and gives her a kiss on her cheeks.

"Don't worry baby, I will always be there with you."

"Promise."

"I promise baby."

After driving for a while they reach the hospital gate. Geet gets down her seat and comes over the other side to help him out of the car.

"Geet, I am fine, I can get down by myself," Dev says while trying to get down with his leg covered in support.

"I know, I know, I just want to be right by your side," she says while taking his hand and helping him.

When out of the car, she sees his laptop bag on the rear seat. "Dev, do you need your bag, should I take it?"

"No, baby, I don't need it, leave it there only."

She takes out his crutch and gives it to him.

"Will you be okay?"

"I will. Just promise me you won't leave me. I don't know I feeling like something is not right."

"Don't worry. everything will be fine. It's just a small surgery. I promise I will be with you."

She gives him a peck on the lips and says, "You go inside, I will be with you in a minute."

"You do know how to park, or should I come with you?"

"Dev," she says in a fake anger, "You always do this."

"Sweetheart, now don't get angry," he cups her face and says, "You know I love you, don't you?"

She smiles and says, "I love you too."

"Now go and come back soon."

"I will see you in a minute."

She goes to other side of car, sits and drives towards the parking garage.
