i dont think its all religious beliefs always. actually cremation is better for the earth- burial cause lots of disease to rise up. in fact at one time there was a movement in england in the church to start cremation. the belief was that the population would grow so large that soon everywhere there would be dead bodies under you. today- that can very well happen. and who is to say that a few hundred years ago there wasnt someone buried under you in an informal grave?
i choose cremation for religious and practical reasons like prevention of disease. a person who dies of disease and is buried can very well transmit it to living persons. it can affect animals as well- as the corpse rots- worms and bugs devour it- what animals devour bugs and worms- keep going in the food chain and it will eventually reach non-veg humans.
