Ok so recently I've been reading quite a lot of jokes on twitter and even blogs by well known critics that have ridiculed Kareena's silly mixup of of the lyrics of Stairway to Heaven.

In one round, Karan asked kareena what saif's favorite song was. And rather than saying Stairway to Heaven, she said Stairway to the Moon.

While it was a goofup and quite funny, countless people equated it to Kareenas' IQ and insulted her intelligence based on the mixup. It went on for ages on twitter.

Am I missing something here?

Raja Sen recently made this statement in an article

"...as was her tragic fumbling with the English language and knowledge of life outside her own mirror. (She called Led Zeppelin's 'Stairway To The Moon' (very sic) Saif's favourite song)"

Now I know Kareena has said some really stupid and dumb things in the past, but can someone explain to me why not knowing the lyrics to an american song by Led Zeplin reflects on wordly knowledge or intelligence?

Why is a girl who has been born and raised in India expected to know the lyrics of an American classic when she's probably never been exposed to that music before. Its a preference aint it? And the only reason she even mentinoed that song is coz its Saif's favorite. (supposedly)

I've lived in the U.S for the past 10 yaers, and the first time I heard of Stairway to HEaven was when my classmate sang it for a project.

Woudl people have found it that ridiculous had she mixed up the lyrics to a well known arabic song. And why the obsession for everything Western. Since when has knowing American celebs become a criteria for knowledge and why is someone's intelligence being judged based on that?

I was just wondering if someone could give me a differnet point of view.

lol u know some people try to be smart by pointing to some ones else mistake ...but they tined to look stupid themselves ... i agree if kareena didnt know the layrics for this song it isnt a big deal since it is from led zaplin ...

which i dont know him or them my self ....

Haha, no seriously, its pretty apparent kareena aint the brightest bulb out there, and has said some rather dumb things in the past.

But what baffled me was the outcry over not knowing the lyrics to an american song. And its not just, "LOL that was hilarious" but like, "Zero IQ. Stairway to the Moon"

Like seriously? And these people think they're so intelligent and knowledgeable themselves, its kinda ridiculous.

I on the other hand, fail to see the connection between the two.

Lol....I'm on a defending mode today. Phele Priyanka and now Kareena.

It is common miss. I've been brought up in Canada....and I know nothing, seriously nothing about angrezi music (or close to it lol or a lot of the movies come to think of it). So does that mean I'm dumb or have an IQ that defines stupidity or whatever? Well, even though I feel stupid a lot of times, I don't think I really am that stupid.

Kareena isn't bright, but this is stupid. She messed up a name of the song. Wow, that totally defines IQ.

*I've never heard of this song.....maybe I have...Stairway sounds familiar*

i agree....some ppl mock and laugh at desi's who have an accent in their english and even term them as illiterates and "dehati ppl"......wht the?? i hate it when ppl who are not tuned into the "western world" are mocked...same in my uni...if u say u like bollywood movies, its like ur an outcast.....

apparently, its "cool" and "urban" to listen to english songs, wear ripped jeans and speak in polished english and rave abt inception.... etc...and anyone who dosent is a "dehati"...😕...once u start talking abt a hindi movie...its like ooh man....thts embarassing.,..😡

What's the big deal if somoene doesnt know the lyrics to an english song? Like if you searched up twitter after that episode, everyoen was just RTing jokes about her stupidity coz of stairway to the moon.

Like what a loser, or wow, totally dumb, and ohter tweets along those lines. Cant believe Raja Sen of all critics has this kinda opinion.

Well Kareena, your have your faults, but this isnt one of them. I appreciate the fact that you are what you are. You dont put on accents, you dont project yourself to be knowledgeable about english music or culture, you are what you are. Stay that way, coz there's no shame in being yourself.

Firstly, Raja Sen's criticism is very wrong - that is low.

I suppose the mean and spiteful twittering is by people who never make mistakes and whose IQ is above 200.

Kareena is not stupid or dull in intelligence, if she were, she would not have reached the heights of talent and fame that she has - she has managed a chaotic and difficult career with aplomb, with arrogance no doubt, but never dull or stupidly.

English has never been a language that she has been comfortable with, and though it is the language of all the nations, there is no reason why she should be up to speed with the songs of the West (even if it is Saifu's fave) and have people mock her for it if she is not.

True, she does not have the sophiscation of Saif Ali Khan, but really, anyone read or seen his interviews when he was in his twenties and early thirties - totally cringe worthy.

Yes, her arrogance and ego irritates me no end, but she tries really hard not to be the one dimensional standard Hindi film heroine, but this young lady has achieved more that most of our so-called educated heroines - glaring example - Sonam Kapoor.

So she made a mistake or is ignorant of the actual lyrics - it did not change the alignment of the planets, just gave those who have an inflated sense of intelligence and importance an opportunity to pick on Kareena Kapoor, who made a mistake with lyrics but has overall achieved more than they ever would.

She also makes it easy to pick on with some of her thoughtless remarks, desi, and makes me want to smack her because I really enjoy her acting.😃

I notice that lost of IF posters pick on Kareena, but it is done good naturedly because of the ammunition she supplies us with, but very few pick on her with any sort of viciousness.

I love pulling apart some of her interviews in good fun.😆

Really? I found it so cutee that she was trying to answer Saif's fav. song and goofed up 😳 This reminded me of how he touched her cheeks so sweetly with his palm ☺️

Anyways, we all listen to english songs. Lots of songs. But we live in India. And it is not necessary to know every song out there. My brother and my cousins are so much into all those hard rock, heavy metal and blah blah but I must be knowing only 10%.of it. Or even less. Does that make me of less IQ? =/ The last time I saw my dad giving lecture was to my elder bro on how he should see learn from his younger sister. LOOL. *gets proud* :P :P

It is okay to not be perfect @ everything. Hence, we're humans =)
