Pia was dumbfounded. Abhay had vanished into thin air. She turned to face the mirror. She could see the talisman had done it's job. Abhay's trickery had not effect on her. Pia let out a heavy sigh. Her heart rate was going back to normal. Abhay why are U doing this thought Pia. Her own thoughts were jumbles with her emotions running wild. He wanted her yet at the same time he was running as far away as possible. How did he compel people? Pia could feel her skin tingling from where he'd touched her. For one minute Pia thought he was going to kiss her. If only he did it would have been magical. Pia ltouched her neck the marks were fading fast. That was unusual. She rushed to the window to see if Abhay was around. Pia swallowed hard. Abhay always made her feel like she had something over him but for Pia it was Abhay who ruled her mind, her heart had no chance of recovering from him. His mere touch sent her shivers. Pia was obsessed with finding the real Abhay now. He was taking great lengths to cover his tracks. He even wanted her to stay away from Kabir. Pia was mad alright. He had no right to tell her who she could date or be friends with. Now the real game started. Her Oscar winning performance. To see if Pia had the acting chops down. Only problem was to be as nasty as possible to Abhay. Now that wouldn't have been so difficult she was pi**ed off at him for doing this to her but she always fell at the last hurdle. Gave in to her weakness for those eyes.

Christmas Eve

Pia had gotten herself a job in the P3 nightclub as a waitress. What could she do? Shee needed the money and due to the recession most shops had sufficient amount of staffing. It was one thing she was pleased with. One worry out the way. Pia had been required to work on Christmas day for block party bookings. Not big deal except she wasn't sure it was such a good idea but beggers couldn't be choosers so she'd accepted the job. Tonight was going to be fun. Her first day on the job. Pia shops till she drops early in the morning trying to buy the perfect gift for all her friends and her family. She had taken special care into each member. Only thing left for Pia was to buy something for Abhay. Only then did she realize that she had to keep her distance from him. This was too messy. Pia wished her life could be less complicated than this. Could she just have one day where she had a normal day without antagonizing anyone. Pia had to go to the College auditorium where the student's were raising money for the orphanage. They had volunteered behind the scenes which was all set up. There was the matter of getting their actors into play. Shuffling each person. Doing their make up and costume. The turnout was huge. The student's brought their family members with them buying a ticket for their presence would all go towards the charity. Most of the seats were filled up. Panchi sure did an amazing job organising it all. Misha was pulling Kabir's leg. He was suckered into playing the role of Joseph. Pia couldn't stop laughing as Kabir pouted his lips showing his annoyance. Tracker was May which was another hilarious moment. Pia scouted the auditorium to look for Abhay anywhere in the crowd. Where the hell was he? The crowd applausethe entry of the three Kings headed by Angad who were lost on stage not finding where they were going as Pintoo was too busy attached to Angad's leg making him trip over. The audience laugh then a calmness ensues as Mary and Joseph arrive with the baby. Finally the curtains fall and the crowd give a roaring applause to all the people who took part in staging to acting.

Panchi comes to the centre of the stage with a mike in her hand thanking everyone for their support. She then goes on to reveal that they have another little surprise. There was going to be an auction with a twist. The audience would have a once in a lifetime chance to buy a guy for one day to do with as they please so long as it's clean. Pia wasn't aware of any of this then again she had her hands full with Abhay. Panchi went on to say the highest bidder would get the prize for one day. So people had better watch out for the stiff competition because there were some pretty cute guy's in the back. This lead Pia to wonder if Abhay was in the back with the rest of the boys. He wasn't seated anywhere at the back. Misha was too busy whistling away. kabir gave her a wink. Those two had plans. Pia was sure of it. Their mischevious smiles gave it all away. Madhoo looked at Arnav asking for his wallet. Pia thought even the parent's wanted some time with a young guy. It was funny but Pia looked into her bag. She didn't have much on her. She'd spent the whole lots on gifts. She only had 60 rupees that wasn't going to be enough for any of these boys. She had her heart set on getting some alone time with Abhay to get on his nerves. Pia saw Panchi starting the procedures with her wooden hammer against the stand.

Panchi smiling away-First bhakra. I mean the first guy is very tall, dark and handsome. Mr reliable. He has some handy skills with his tools. So ladies if U have your pockets ready we have Danish Singh in the house. (There's some cheering) So can i have my first bid please.

Madhoo-100 rupees for Danish.

Panchi-Do i have any higher than 100 rupees? Come on people it's for a very good cause.

Misha-101 rupees for Dan. Beat that Mom?

Panchi gets a phone call-It's Haseena here on the phone bid and she is bidding 200 rupees.

Madhoo whispers to Arnav then forwarding back to Panchi-300 rupees.

Panchi-Ok 300 rupees any offers to go higher than that? Haseena is still on the line people and she's offered 400 rupees. We are doing good so far. (Panchi searches for any more hands but see's none)Deal is done. Danish is Haseena's for the day. (Panchi warns Dan) Any hanky panki and you'll be done. Now for our next hunky fella. I wonder who can follow in Danish's footsteps other than the charming better looking cousin Kabir. He's a real heart throb ladies so this is where the serious business begins. Will anyone start me off please?

Misha with her huge cheeky grin-I'm coming out with the big guns for my best friend to beat Danishe's score by bidding 450 rupees.

Madhoo to Arnav-I'm all out so where is Mishoo getting her money from?

Arnav replies back-Who knows she's my daughter after all she's probably found a way to double her money from some sucker.

T waving her arms frantically-500 rupees for Kabir.

Tracker-I bid 600 rupees. Kabir and I need a serious chat.

Kabir rolls his eyes and mouths to Misha-Come on.

Mrs Hansraj-I need my pool cleaning out i bid 650 rupees for the brawn.

Panchi looks around for more bidders so she counts really fast then hits her hammer-Going once.twice.Done. Sorry Kabir but she needs the hired help.

Kabir complains-Panchi that is not fair U cheated.

Panchi-Come on Kabir Misha is blowing money. My money. Even if its for Charity U aren't going to get any work done at my house so Mrs Hansraj is a teacher at the college so U will be working extra hard to please her right?

Kabir-Very clever my Nani. I hope U rot.

Panchi intros the next scapegoat-Now this guy makes all of us laugh so if U are looking for some fun in your life he's your man. Pintoo. Now can we start the bid?

Panchi searcher's for someone to raise their hands. Then Pintoo's Mom holds her hand up for 100 rupees. And the bidding war which was a nonstarter closes at just that.

Panchi- Now for this man who shall i say needs no introduction from the ladies. He is a heart throb in College. Dark and mysterious at times too much of a bad boy so he comes with a warning people. Once U get a hold of him U may regret it. He is Abhay Raichand.

A huge round of applause went round the auditorium. Some wolf whistling, others cheered loud.

Misha's eyes pop in surprise. The saroo was offering himself on a platter. Now that was the surprise of the evening. Misha thought Abhay was the most arrogant, most vainest, selfish jack a** on the planet she'd ever met overthrowing T in those stakes. There was probably something in it for him. Guy's like these always had a motive. Anyway it didn't affect her but she was less than impressed with the response he was getting from most of the audience mainly the female counterpart. Misha saw Pia with her angry young woman expression which made Misha laugh out loud. Misha wondered what was bugging Pia? She'd noticed Pia's fists were clenched. Could it be Abhay? No Pia hated Abhay right? Then again Misha assumed most girls would be repelled by Abhay's use them and leave them method.

Tracker made the first bid all too eagerly-I bid 300 rupees.

T rolls her eyes. What a despo she thought on Tracker's over enthusiasm?-600 rupees for Abhay.

Shalini-650 rupees

Mona-700 rupees.

Misha wanted to see how much further Abhay's bid could get so she joined in-800 rupees.

Madhoo whispers to Arnav-Has Misha gone mad? 800 rupees. Where is she getting this money from? Certainly not from me. Did U give her the money?

Arnav looks guilty-We'll discuss this at home.

Panchi had a shock with Misha then soldiered on-Any more bidders?

T-Can we use credit cards and debit cards? I can pay with that.

Panchi-Sure but only if U have sufficient funds in there. Offer lasts for just today.

T frowns in irritated by this news. She didn't have enough in there as she'd spent all her money on clothes and jewelleries but she bid anyway-900 rupees

Tracker had lost the game-I'm all out

The numbers continued to go higher and higher with Abhay proud with his assets. After all he was the best looking guy in the college. He had glanced over at Pia a few times. He'd revelled in her discomfort yet it terrified him that all his efforts to keep her feelings at bay for him were going in vain. He'd done what he thought was right on behalf of both their safety. Pia was one angry woman he'd stay away from. She was frightening him with her eyes razor sharp trying to cut through him like invisible daggers. Abhay had no intention to follow Pia's gaze. He could see the hurt in her trembling body. Those emotions were impossible to ignore after all he did it's what gave him a kick. Abhay wanted Pia to stop looking at him like that. compelling wasn't enough for Pia she must have this in her very soul. Deep down he knew what this meant but he'd deny everything for her. He had to. He had broken the record and broken Pia's self will.

A shadow comes to the fro with her voice echoing in-2.5 laks.

All heads turn her way as she walks towards the aisle. she appeared exotic from what Pia could see.

Abhay grinned with recognition as the girl went to the front of the stage. This mysterious girl hugged Abhay. There were no more bids. Panchi was flabbergasted by the huge demand for Abhay. Girls liked danger but Abhay was a weird guy. A recluse of some kind. They'd made money for their cause that was the main point. Misha couldn't believe her eyes. Sadoo was the main attraction. The prize that girls wanted. She shook off her distaste towards Abhay and all these crazed girls. Misha was damn glad she wasn't one of these barbies. But it was fun just to see the look on her sister and Mom's face when she'd made a bid on Abhay thank God there was someone else who'd outbid her. That thought didn't occur till she opened her big fat mouth.

Panchi searched for more bids-Ok now going to that lady next to me?

Tara-Oh the names Tara!

Panchi nods her way as she slams the hammer.-Abhay is all yours Tara. Good luck trying to pin him down. He has a habit of disappearing.

Tara replies-Trust me i know hot to handle Abhay.

Abhay gave Tara a mischievous grin-I don't think i'll be able to do that with U will i?

Pia already disliked Tara now and she didn't even know the girl. Abhay gave the impression he and Tara went way back. They were already joking about. Not fair. Pia didn't want to feel so hateful filled with envy but what could she do? Abhay was the one that wanted them to stay apart. It was he who'd taken drastic steps while she was the puppet with no master to guide her through this swamp. Pia left the auditorium through the back. It was too much for her seeing Abhay with yet another girl. Only difference was this time he was with one that he genuinely seemed to like. Pia went out the back door.

Panchi-Thank You everyone for turning up and being so generous with your money. As u know tomoroow is Christmas and we'd like some of U to dedicate at least one hour of your time at the orphanage where we will be doing a very short presentation donating the cheque for 6 laks which we've generated today. Have a happy Christmas everyone.

The crowd all give a standing ovation to all the members involved in the charity event and to the cast and crew. Misha tries to seek out Pia but she's nowhere to be seen. Kabir is also disappointed not to find Pia. Where was she? On their way out to the backroom Kabir pulls Misha to see what's going on.

Kabir anxiously asks Misha-Have U seen Pia? With all this going on i couldn't even congratulate her on her new job.

Misha-She was in the back helping with the costumes but i'd expected her to come out and she'd left. She's not in the back room. I'm sure she's OK Kabir. She was agitated about Rosa. Her Mom's not well. Pia's been praying for her at the temple early on in the day.

Abhay walked in hand in hand with Tara to get his jacket. He'd overheard everything Misha and Kabir were discussing about Pia. She had to get in everyone's business. He speculated on what was going on inside Pia. Her new job he wasn't aware she'd taken up. Pia was certainly keeping her end of the bargain. This upset him slightly. He saw some of his fellow student's gawping at Tara. She had that effect. The woman was after all what 45 years old yet didn't look past 20. It was the blood she'd consume that kept her looking so youthful. Abhay with Tara without talking to anyone.

Outside Abhay had finally managed to ease up-U sure know how to make a grand entrance!

Tara-Come on and let my boy down. It's Christmas and theres no fun without T in the house.

Abhay makes a disgusted face-Don't ever say T in the house. It's a long story but we have a T in College and that girl is a law on to herself. She rubs me up the wrong way.

Tara queries-So what's the low down here? U know what went down here 50 years earlier?

Abhay annoyed-I know ask the folks? They have this master plan. One i'm not included in. I am after all the one that spoils their fun.

Tara-Lighten Up will U? We can discuss this later. Know of any good bars here?

Abhay-It's clubs here not bar. It is India Tara not Salem! I'm in no mood for partying today. We'll go tomorrow. For today we will just chill out. I can't believe U made it here for me.

Christmas Day

Pia goes to her Mom's grave and lights a candle for her. She reminisces the old times. The little games they used to play hiding cookies for Santa to find only Santa never came. Her Mom used to leave presents in the stockings while Pia was aleep only Pia knew it was her Mom. She'd cut a piece of cake she'd bought for this moment. Pia poured out her heart to her Mom. The 411 on her everyday boring life and her grievances regarding Abhay. The one guy who drove her mad. Well she wasn't going to let him spoil the day. Pia mentioned her first ever job and how nervous she was. Even if Christmas Eve was Ok. She'd spilt some drinks on customers. Nothing too major. She'd even revealed now she knew why destiny brought her here. To find her family mend them if she could as nobody should be excluded from any family. With Misha's help Pia had gotten in touch with Sidharth to come over for the festivities with a slight delay. His plane got cancelled due to heavy snow in the UK. So he'd have to wait a few days. Pia walked on her way to a temple to pray for Carmel's healthy which was deteriorating pretty fast. Poor Rosa who was at her bedside in Mount Hospital, she prayed for her family's happiness and for herself to be shown a sign of some sort leading her to her destint. Pia then travelled all the way to the Dobrial's. After all now that she knew they were family she was going to try to get to know each member better than she had before.

Pia arrived with a bag filled with gifts for the Dobrials. Misha had invited her over for Christmas Dinner. Panchi and Madoo were helping out in the kitchen while Pia tried to help but Panchi kept pushing her out of the Kitchen while telling Misha off for slacking off. Arnav was busy siding with Misha as she was his youngest.

Misha asks Pia-So where were U Pia after the bidding wars were over? We missed U.

Pia-I needed to get some fresh air. It was stuffy in there and i'd gone to visit Carmel.

Misha calm now-U had me worried then. How is the old kooky lady doing?

Pia with a sad face-Not well. I fear she won't make it. Rosa will end up all alone like me.

Arnav interjects-I'm sure she'll be OK. The woman might be a little crazt but she's made of stern stuff. U aren't alone beta U have us.

Misha chimes in-Well said Dad. Don't U ever dare say U are alone Pia. U have us your surrogate family. Well we are as good as a family.

Pia smiles weakly-I didn't mean it that way. When Mom passed away i didn't have anyone. It's hard. I don't want to see Rosa lose someone she loves. She's too scared to leave her mothers side.

Misha tries to lighten the mood-I'm sure she'll be Ok. Rosa is sorted in her mind. Come on Pia share your good news with us. The new job how was it? Sorry i couldn't be there. The dictators in this house wanted me in lockdown for my secret stash which by the way was Kabir's not mine.

Pia defends Misha-Uncle Misha's right U know. Kabir was the one that gave her the money to bid on him but he must have misjudged how popular he'd be with the ladies. Misha hasn't dipped into her bike fund.

Misha-Thanks Pia. I have someone in my corner. Mom had tried to chew me all night. I haven't spoken to her all morning.

Arnav-Both mother daughter are ignoring each other. I wonder who'll break first.

Pia gives Misha the eye-Mish U know Your Mom will win this round. They always do. Christmas is about love, joy and forgiveness of all deeds past. It doesn't make one smaller or bigger if U make the first step. Besides your Mom's doing the cooking U might not get the dishes U love eating.

Misha-S**t i didn't think of it that way.

Misha heads towards the kitchen hugging her Mom from behind-Sorry Mumma for giving U the silent treatment. I shouldn't have yelled at U.

Madhoo turns around giving Misha a kiss on the forehead-I know sweetie. I should have trusted U but U sure do crazy things at times. I want all my children happy. Look i've even made U your favourite Sweets.

Misha-U are the best Mom ever did i ever tell U that?

Madhoo smiles-No! U tend to stay far away from sentimental words my little gundi.

Misha wiping her face-U gut lipstick on my cheeks Mom. Ewww .

All the family gather round the table and say their grace. They start to eat their Christmas tirkey with all the trimmings. Pia and Misha pulled their crackers and had a laugh at some of the jokes. They sounded so cheesy. Whoever came up with them needed sacking. Then chocolate cake for desert which was a little too decadent for Pia but it was devine. They finally pass presents round to everyone. Pia gives the Dobrial's a huge photo frame with a family portrait for them to hang on the wall. They all liked it. Pia was relieved.

Pia-I know it's not much but from what i've seen this sums U guys as a family. Fun with an element of spark in your eyes. It's the only one i could see U guy's as the perfect family from the photo's i'd taken of U earlier in the week.

Misha-So that was what all the posing was for. U told us it was a project on the rise of the Dobrial's.

Panchi-Looks like Pia can give U a run for your money Mish with all the lies you've told us over the years for April fools day.

Misha opened her present which was a key. Arnav gives her a smile-Yes Beta its the new bike U wanted well i've paid half the payment for it now the other half is up to U.

Misha a little disappointed-Well i'm one step closer to my dream bike. Yippee.(Misha opens Panchi's gift) Oh Wow a necklace. Do i look like i wear jewellery?

Panchi grins cheekily-Well it's your first starter. It's a necklace U can accessorize it with anything U want dumbo.U like skulls put a skull on it.

Pia unwrapped her gifts-Wow U guy's shouldn't have. (They'd given her a set of ruby earrings). It's too much.

Panchi-It's your birthstone. Wait till U see what Misha got U.

Misha-Hey we all need stationary. Pia's always forgetting her pens so i bought her a whole 3 sets of them this way she has a spare.

Pia-This was very thoughtful of U. Mishoo is right i'm a clutz at best. One can never be short of pens.

Arnav-So what's this i hear about a new job?

Pia-It's just till i find something more appropriate till i'm on my feet. I'm working at P3 waitressing. Kabir's always going there and he told me he'd help me if i was ever needed it. It's only part time.

Panchi-Misha thought it would allow us more time to party and enjoy extra time with our friends.

Madhoo-Did she now? Well i suppose she can do what she likes so long as her studies come first not having U fail this year young lady.

Pia-Thank U for a wonderful Meal. It's been a long time since i've felt part of a family.

Madhoo-It's a pleasure. Are U coming with us to the Orphanage? The cheque is being handed today.

Misha-Course she's coming.

With that they were off to see the presentation at the Dehradun orphanage

Kabir was there with his Bidder Mrs Hansraj. He looked very tired. Thank goodness the day was over he thought. The woman was a slave driver. Even servants didn't have to work as hard as he did. He'd cleaned out her pool. Then dusted her house top to bottom. He had to read the Daily Times in hindi to her which was a drag while she listened to classical music. His day was anything but fun. Panchi was smiling at him. He sure wanted to give her a piece of his mind. He didn't even get to party with Pia for her first day thanks to the slave driver. Kabir had wondered if he even had energy to party on Christmas day with his family. They didn't do much which was a good job. He was shattered. His muscles ached. Normally he'd have had house workers pop round to do his bidding but Mrs Hansraj was strict. She was one of his tutors at College so he had to make a good impression and work like he'd never worked before. Panchi came to the front at the Orphanage with the maitron of the Orphanage. She presented her with a chque for 6 laks while everyone clapped and spent some time with each child. Pia moved to one child who reminded her of herself as a child.

Pia started to play with the little girl and tatty old doll. The little girl watched Pia with her vacant expression. She knelt to her level and offered her hand. She looked wearily at Pia for a few minutes then gradually shook her hand. Pia gave a little smile talking to the girl.

Pia-I'm Pia. I used to have a doll just like that. Do U have a name?

The girl-Ananya! My dolly's called Anya.

Pia-That's a clever play on your name. It's a beautiful name.

Ananya-U are a bautiful girl. I like U. U aren't like the others.

Pia-Others!

Ananya replies cooly-Other volunteers. U seem more relaxed.

Pia-I have no family. I mean at the Orphanage. My Mom died when i was little so i know how it feels. U know when U are older U will see its not so bad. U can be your own person. Grown up.

Ananya asks-Will U come here more often now.

Pia-I'd love to if U want me to. I've been meaning to come here but with College your whole life gets taken over. I'm glad i've met U. Ananya.

Ananya concurs-I don't normally like talking to strangers but U are sweet. I would want U to visit us.

Abhay watches Pia with pride. The girl made him melt even now when she was being so gentle with this little girl Ananya. He could see their instant bond through a common ground. They were alone despite being surrounded by people but christmas was a time that sometimes brought strangers together. He would normally stay the hell away from places like this. He didn't like kids due to the guilt he carried round him. it hurt to think about his crimes. The memories that flooded him. Tara watched Abhay gazing away at agirl who was so familiar. No WAY!.
