Is this what marriage does to you??

You know for the first time, I've had to question my whole perspective on marriage. I still see it as a beautiful institution primarily because of my parents but after yesterdays scene between AR, it just made me re-think the concept out again.

What will it take for Riddhima to stop feeling Armaan's presence? Why is it that even after 'accepting' her marriage with Sid, her eyes still yearn for Armaan?

I always thought marriage was a beautiful journey of two souls but in DMG, marriage is actually tearing one soul apart (that of Armaan and Riddhimas). Is this what marriage is about? Notice how Riddhima's eyes were fixated on the word 'WIFE'. That legal and moral obligation she made in front of society is taking her away from her happiness.

She confessed that she will try to smile without Armaan. Why does it have to go that far? Why can't she be with him and smile to her hearts content? Why are we being shown a Devdas track in todays time when we have films like Love Aaj Kal?

Armaan silently said his goodbyes, Sid sent divorce papers. That is the difference between their relationships. Riddhima will hurt Armaan because she can afford to hurt herself. She knows he will understand, they are not seperate from each other. Here she is bearing the most amount of pain in her heart and BAM the divorce papers come. Her anger was justified! It was as if she was saying 'I am giving up my love, my life so I can stand loyal to our marriage and you send me these papers'. THAT was her frustration.

If marriage has been made so two people madly in love are kept apart then I don't think I can look at it in the same way... 😕

Nandini in HDDCS was left unaffected by Sameer eventually...
Anjali in Dhadkan was unaffected by Dev eventually...

...

BUT Paro in Devdas ended up running towards a dying Deva.

Is THIS what marriage is about? 😕 Why are people who affect each other insanely being kept apart? 😳

totally agree with you. nice post. 👏
when riddhima saw the card where written YOU ARE MY LIFE.her expression was like that i know i am your life & you are also my life. but when she saw the wife card, she felt so sad that cos of this marriage she can't go with armaan. her tears were proving that.
this marriage is not giving her any happiness, then what's the reason of this marriage? 😕
plsss cv value the meaning of love. armaan is the true love of riddhima.

I will come back to this post later, as it's lunch time in India.. so gtg..

But just wanted to say --

Nandini and Shilpa Shetty in Dhadkan could move on in lives becoz they had loving husbands who could make them forget their first love.. Not forget actually, but to overpower it and make them fall in love again..

And for Paro, she had a husband who kept her away from himself, becoz he can't forget his first love Subhadra.. The character of Paro's husband is NO way similar to Sid.. A wife needs her husband's support to move on.. Ridz had it.. which is why she forgot Armaan in her honeymoon days with Sid.. So she can do that again in future.. becoz Sid is too good a husband like that😊

Aweosme post Reemu ....👏

Love is straight from the heart and does not follow rules it is not bound by limitations.Marriage is a beautiful institution no doubt but whats the meaning of it when it has no love or obligation as a base of it.For Riddhima marriage to Sid is a big commitment and her brain forces her to stay true to it,but her heart that loves Armaan knows that what may come it cant stop loving him ever.I am not against marriages and I respect it immensely but a forced marriage which keeps three people unhappy is something even something so pure as marriage cannot justify.

^Prerna4rishav: Even if Paro's husband was the most loving husband, she wouldn't have been able to forget Devdas because their souls were entwined together.

Sid is a very nice guy but even after trying to move on with him, Riddhima still wants Armaan. Doesn't this mean that she will never get over Armaan?? And why should she HAVE to when its clear what her heart truly desires?

Why are people overlooking what Riddhima actually WANTS?? Its beyond me. Her eyes were in so much pain yesterday! She felt his presence, she realised he was leaving, she knew he wanted to say something to her. He is in her heart & soul!

Loved your post well written
and every point in place. You are
right that Nandini went went off with
her husband and as we all know
where a film ends there begins a serial.
Nandini's end was just a beginning for
Riddhima and even though i agree that Sid
is a loving husband but he can never overpower
Armaan's love and cannot reduce Riddhima's loves
for Armaan.

u r rite ...even my personal opinion is that if marriage is not making your life happy then no need to just stretch it on the basis of a small piece of paper.....u get only one life and it should not be sacrificed on compromises and afraid from the worlds rituals....
