Orissa temple files complaint against Shilpa Shetty

Authorities of the Sakhigopal temple in Orissa today lodged a police complaint against Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty accusing her of entering into the shrine with armed guards and lensmen with their shoes on.

For the action of the actress, the priests had to bury the 'prasad' (cooked food for the deity) as per rituals of the temple, a temple official said. "Security personnel and photographers accompanying the actress entered into the temple with shoes and camera," Mahendra Das, executive officer of the temple, said in the complaint lodged at Satyabadi police station in Puri district. Entering the temple with shoes and camera is prohibited, Das said alleging the actress did not pay any heed to the priests who asked her not to commit the "mistake".

Shetty, who was in Puri yesterday for shooting of a tele-serial, allegedly entered the Krishna temple without proper permission from the authorities, the police said. Adequate police protection was made for the 34-year-old actress, the police said.

Protesting the actress's alleged act of hurting sentiment of the local people, the priests staged a sit-in demanding action against the winner of the Celebrity Big Brother show in 2007.

She and her bodygaurds has insulted the temple and should publicly appolozise, BTW where were the pandits who should have told them to take their shoes off !! Who does she think she is !! She should thanks Goody to make her popular although she is dead !! Was she wear gold shoes or glass slippers that she couldn't take them off !! This is a real disgrace when one becomes a big headed !! A flop actress in reality !!

Every religious place whether a Temple, Mosque, Gurudawara people have to take off their shoes, it may be not a big deal but with the bodyguards taking in the guns, that surely is a matter of concern !! don't you think so Sano dear !! 😳

I think that was pretty unrespectful..if they weren't willing to take off their shoes then they should'nt have entered... just because one is an actor/acteress they're not held any higher in the place of worship, we're all equals there.. and miss shilpa needs to keep this in mind... i think even if the body gaurds came w/o guns they'd be fine..!

hold on to your godly guns 😆 😆 if you see the pics you will know that this article is a fake one... shilpa is a religious person and visits many temples ... so she defo know the basic rules that we should remove slippers before we enter the temple.

well abt abt the pandit ??? he was on seventh haven looking at shilpa..... even if she wore slippers he would have never objected.. he looks like kid in a candy shop 😆 😆 😆

He seems like one hell of a dirty old man not even a pandit !! I do admit that before this we only thought whatever we have read is the truth !! He saw an actress the mouth started dribbling !! You are right and except what you have written !! Thanks for sharing !! 😳

Shilpa Shetty temple controversy not serious: Police

No serious case was made out against Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty for apparently breaking the rules while shooting at Orissa's revered Sakhigopal temple, the police said Saturday, adding they were trying to find out if she had hurt religious sentiments.

Shetty was accused of entering the Gopinath Deb temple of Sakhigopal near Puri Thursday with her shoes on. The temple authorities later filed a complaint with the Satyabadi police station against the actress. "The temple executive Sachidananda Das along with some staff members of the temple have filed a complaint against Shilpa Shetty. They have complained that the Bollywood actress has violated the shrine rules," said officer in-charge of Satyabadi police station Prasanna Kumar Biswal. "I was present when the actress reached the spot as we had instructions to go there for her protection. The crew had already taken the permission of temple authorities to shoot there. Since the complaint has come we are looking into the matter. No serious case is made out against the actress as per IPC (Indian Penal code)," Biswal said. "We are trying to find out whether she has hurt the religious sentiments by entering the temple with shoes on. We are also discussing the matter with senior officials before we file a case," he said.

"Some people seem to have unnecessarily dragged in Shilpa Shetty. However, we are investigating the matter," Biswal said.
