The buzz around Dhurandhar 2 is starting to look less like ordinary pre release excitement and more like a full blown cinematic event. Even with eight days still left before the film officially hits theatres, the advance booking numbers have already taken a massive leap. Paid previews scheduled for March 18 are witnessing an extraordinary response from audiences across India.

What makes the situation even more fascinating is the ticket pricing. Despite extremely high rates in many multiplexes, fans are snapping up seats at lightning speed. In several cities, preview shows are already sold out while others are rapidly filling up. For a film that is still more than a week away from its premiere, the momentum is remarkable.

Paid preview shows begin early evening across India

Multiplex chains across the country have lined up special preview shows for Dhurandhar 2 on the evening of March 18, a day before the wide theatrical release on March 19. Many theatres have scheduled the first screenings around 4 PM or 5 PM, while some properties are running multiple shows throughout the evening to accommodate the surge in demand.

This early screening strategy appears to be paying off. Fans eager to watch the sequel before everyone else have rushed to grab tickets the moment bookings opened. In many major cities, the first few preview shows sold out almost instantly. The strong advance sales have already placed the film in an enviable position even before the official opening day arrives.

While excitement around the film is understandable, what has truly caught the internet’s attention is the steep ticket pricing. Many multiplexes in metropolitan cities have priced standard format tickets between Rs 600 and Rs 900 for the preview shows.

Premium formats are even more expensive. IMAX screenings in certain regions have crossed the Rs 1000 mark. Luxury screens with recliner seating are charging significantly higher amounts, pushing ticket prices into territory rarely seen for Hindi film previews.

The most expensive seat currently belongs to a luxury screening at INOX Megaplex in Borivali, Mumbai where a recliner ticket has been priced at Rs 3100. In Delhi, premium recliners at PVR Select City Walk are available for around Rs 2400. Surprisingly, the steep pricing has not slowed down demand. In several locations, these costly seats are already sold out or close to being fully booked.

Average ticket prices reveal massive demand

The overall ticket pricing data paints an even clearer picture of the craze surrounding the film. The average ticket price for the original Hindi version currently stands at around Rs 418, which is significantly higher than usual market averages.

For Dolby Cinema screenings, the average climbs to approximately Rs 759. Even dubbed versions are seeing strong numbers. The Kannada version has an average price of Rs 445 while the Telugu version is around Rs 230.

Interestingly, the Tamil dubbed version remains comparatively lower at Rs 166 due to regional ticket price caps. Despite these variations, the overall trend clearly reflects intense demand across languages and formats.

Advance booking already crosses Rs 15 crore

The numbers behind the advance booking are just as impressive as the ticket prices. Dhurandhar 2 has already sold nearly three lakh tickets across India with eight days still remaining before the paid previews begin.

This early rush has generated more than Rs 15 crore domestically, making it the highest grossing premiere advance for a Bollywood film so far. If the current momentum continues, trade experts believe the preview collections could easily climb to the Rs 25 crore to Rs 30 crore range before release day.

If that happens, the film could challenge the pan India preview record currently held by the Pawan Kalyan film OG, which reportedly collected around Rs 25 crore from premiere screenings.

Can Dhurandhar 2 deliver a historic opening

With numbers climbing rapidly and anticipation rising every day, trade circles are already discussing the possibility of a record breaking opening day. Early estimates suggest that the film could mount a serious challenge to the massive Hindi opening record set by Pushpa 2 The Rule, which earned about Rs 70 crore on its first day.

Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film sees Ranveer Singh return as the fearless Indian spy operating inside Pakistan. The sequel features an impressive ensemble including R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Danish Pandor, Rakesh Bedi and Sara Arjun.

The first film in the franchise turned into a global blockbuster, collecting around Rs 1300 crore worldwide and becoming one of the biggest Hindi films ever made. With massive advance bookings and unprecedented ticket demand already setting the stage, Dhurandhar 2 now appears ready to attempt something even bigger at the box office.

TL;DR

Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2 is already creating massive box office buzz even before release. Paid preview tickets on March 18 are selling out rapidly despite prices touching Rs 3100 in Mumbai luxury screens. With nearly three lakh tickets sold, the film has crossed Rs 15 crore in advance booking and could challenge major opening day records when it releases on March 19.
