After alleging harassment during her marriage to a Muslim businessman, Sayali Surve, the 2019 Miss India Earth winner, has reverted to Hinduism. The incident occurred in Pimpri-Chinchwad, near Pune, and has ignited significant debate on social media and within political circles.
Sayali returns back to Hinduism post marrying a muslim man
Reports indicate that Sayali, against her family's wishes, married Aatif Tase, a businessman from Mira-Bhayandar, in 2019. Following their interfaith marriage, she reportedly converted to Islam and was renamed Ateja (or Ateza) Tase.
The marriage, however, soon deteriorated, with Sayali Surve alleging subsequent mental and physical harassment. She also claimed she was pressured to change her religion. "Marrying Aatif Tase was the biggest mistake of my life," she stated, adding that she endured the difficult situation for several years, primarily for her children's sake.

Sayali reported multiple instances of harassment to the police but claimed she received inadequate support. Ultimately, she chose to end the relationship and return to Hinduism.
With the backing of Hindu organizations, a purification ritual was performed in Pimpri-Chinchwad, involving Vedic ceremonies and mantra chanting. Following this, she reportedly adopted the name Aadya Surve.
"Any girl who is enduring such things, please don't endure it. God has not given us life to lose in front of such Ravanas. Don't get discouraged. I was there for 10 years because I have four children. When I look at my children, my mother never thinks that my house should be broken or that my children should not get the support of their parents. I spent so many years thinking this. But as a human being, my patience was over. I had to come out for my children," Sayali said.
Who is Sayali?
Hailing from Mumbai and raised in Pune, Sayali Surve began her career in modeling and beauty pageants. She achieved national recognition by winning the Miss India Earth title in 2019 and later pursued aviation studies.
Authorities have yet to release official statements about the allegations, and the situation remains a focal point of attention throughout Maharashtra.
