Do channels interfere with the makers storyline

Do TV Channels interfere with the producers’ creativity or decision about the plots of their shows? I’ve come across posts claiming that channels' creative do interfere with the decisions of the makers, which can change the course of the original storyline.

It appears that colors tv influence the producers of Mangal Laxmi to take a leap. They are not benefitting from this leap because the trp did not get better. Why would the channel do that if they aren’t sure if the result will be advantageous?
