A wave of social media chatter on Tuesday claimed that Aneet Padda would portray Madhubala in an upcoming biographical project. The news quickly caught the attention of film fans, especially after Padda’s recent popularity following her performance in Saiyaara.

But the reports turned out to be inaccurate. When contacted for clarification, the talent team at Yash Raj Films, which manages the actor, stated that the claim was simply not true.

A spokesperson from the production house confirmed that the reports linking Aneet Padda to a Madhubala biopic were untrue, putting an end to the speculation.

The actor has indeed been gaining strong momentum in the industry. Her portrayal of aspiring writer Vaani Batra in Saiyaara, a character dealing with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease, earned her praise from audiences and critics alike. The performance helped her build a loyal fan base and also brought several debut awards her way. While the Madhubala rumours may have been dismissed, Padda already has a confirmed project lined up. She will next appear in Shakti Shalini, a film that is part of producer Dinesh Vijan’s expanding Maddock Horror Comedy Universe.

Kiara Advani And Other Names Previously Linked To The Role

Before Aneet Padda’s name entered the conversation, another major actor was widely associated with the role. Multiple reports had suggested that Kiara Advani might portray Madhubala in a biopic believed to be connected to filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

However, insiders later clarified that these reports were also unfounded. Sources stated that there was no confirmed project involving Kiara Advani in such a film and that the speculation circulating online had no factual basis.

In 2024, Sony Pictures International Productions announced plans for a biopic in collaboration with Brewing Thoughts Pvt Ltd. The film was expected to be directed by Jasmeet K Reen, known for the film Darlings.

The project is being developed as a co-production under Madhubala Ventures by the actor’s sister Madhur Brij Bhushan along with Arvind Kumar Malviya. The film aims to revisit the journey of the star who began her career as a child artist before rising to become one of the most admired leading ladies of her time.

Another separate project has also been in the works from celebrated designer-turned-producer Manish Malhotra. Industry buzz previously suggested that Kriti Sanon could play the legendary star in that film, though an official announcement regarding casting is still awaited.
