I have a different opinion on Amar being MIA. The season addressed ageism in the first few episodes itself when the difference between how young Mihir looked and how Tulsi was found to be lacking in comparison as his wife who looked older than he did. The makers knew this was meant to happen when they recast the same actors nearly 25 years later; and so they addressed the elephant in the room. Even Gautam got a sly comment in when he said Mihir looked younger than he did when he first entered the show this season. The issue is Rio’s entry puts a wrench into this whole thing.
The audience isn’t already buying Hiten playing Aakashdeep’s foster dad, how are they supposed to buy Amar as the biological grandfather here? They can’t drastically age him onscreen because it makes no sense given that they didn’t go down this route ever since day one. Aakashdeep will make Amar look even younger by just being in the same frame as him. They’re in a flux because they know Amar isn’t quitting, they know that replacing him with another actor will invite backlash and memes galore plus it will be bad blood when this time around Amar has no issues playing an older character onscreen like he did in the previous season. Even if they were to recast, then it’s obvious it’s being done to retain one character on the show which the audience is already rejecting. Even if it’s done despite all of the obvious mounting facts, it makes one actor’s inclusion in the show seem more prominent than that of the leading man of the show which sets a wrong precedent. Any actor willing to replace Amar will also have to be age appropriate to work with Smriti which means they’re more likely than not an already established face and if we include the usual suspects in the list then Ram is out because of a fallout, Ronit might agree given that he’s already played the part but the price maybe an issue.
They walked into a trap of their own making and probably realised the dead-end they’ve written themselves into a bit too late. The gamble is also not paying off as they probably had hoped and expected by giving Ansh 3.0 a chance to wreck havoc. The joke is that he’s not even started doing any damage yet.
