A gripping battle of spin set to unfold through the middle overs: Ireland's spinners have already struck twice, and on a Colombo surface that's offering plenty of assistance, spin continues to play a decisive role. Don't be surprised if the Irish spinners take a couple more wickets as the innings wears on.

Eye of Sauron: Today was the second instance of Australia’s captain being run out in Men’s T20 World Cup. The first instance came in 2010 when Michael Clarke was run out against West Indies.

Australia will be happy with this score. They won the toss, opted to bat first and have put the runs on the board. Without Mitchell Marsh, Josh Inglis was pushed up the order to partner Travid Head - the new pair though astruggled with the running and the stand-in captain was run-out in the 2nd innings. Inglis made a 17-ball 37, Cameron Green made a 11-ball 21 while Matt Renshaw finished wsith a 33-ball 37. The innings though needed a facelift and it came through Stoinis's 29-ball 45. Ireland were decent with the ball, but they weren't backed up in the field for the second straight game in a row. They're now chasing an above-par score in what is a must-win game for them. Can they draw a leaf from Afghanistan's book and keep themselves in the hunt.

Australia has finished with 182/6

Matt Renshaw: "Nice to get a high score on the board. Really important partnership between Stoinis and I. We didn't speak about a 'target', but we needed a partnership there. Stoinis was really calm, kept me calm. We had conversations in the dressing room to make sure what each other's plans are. Mine is different to the other boys: to hit the ball into the gaps and get the quick twos. Managed to get a total on the board and hopefully we can defend it. [Pitch] got harder and harder as we batted."
