🔱 Happy Maha Shivratri 🔱

Maha Shivratri is usually celebrated on the 14th day of the dark fortnight in the Hindu month of Maagha or Phalguna (usually February or March) to honour Mahadev Shiva (the destroyer of evil) and seek his blessings by performing various rituals and customs. The devotees across the globe come together and celebrate this day with utmost happiness.

There are many legends associated with this day of Maha Shivratri.

According to Hindu mythology, this day marks the sacred union of Mahadev Shiva and Mata Parvati. On this auspicious day, the divine marriage of Shiva-Parvati happened which symbolised the union of Shiva & Shakti (i.e. the masculine & feminine energies representing harmony and balance in the universe).

According to another legend, Maha Shivratri is the night when Mahadev enacted the heavenly dance of creation, preservation, as well as destruction.

To celebrate this auspicious day, devotees do fasting (vrat) throughout day and night and perform various rituals including the ritual bathing of the Shiva Linga with milk, honey, water, and other sacred substances.

To seek blessings from Bholenath Mahadev, devotees go to the nearby Shiva temples to offer their prayers. It is believed that worshipping Bholenath on Maha Shivratri with utmost devotion can help one overcoming all the obstacles and fulfillment of all their wishes.

कर्पूरगौरं करुणावतारं

संसारसारं भुजगेन्द्रहारम्।

सदा बसन्तं हृदयारविन्दे

भवं भवानीसहितं नमामि।।

कर्पूर गौरम करुणावतारम मंत्र का अर्थ:

हे शिव आप कर्पूर जैसे गौर वर्ण हो, आप करुणा के अवतार हो, आप संसार के सार हो, आप सर्प का हार धारण करने वाले हो। हे शिव शंकर आप माता भवानी के साथ मेरे हृदय में सदा निवास करें। हे शिव आपको हमारा प्रणाम है।

• कपूर के समान पवित्र शिव को कर्प्रगौरा के नाम से जाना जाता है।
• जिसका व्यक्तित्व करुणा का प्रतीक है और जो करुणा का अवतार है।
• जो सारी सृष्टि का सार है उसे संसार सारम कहा जाता है।
• नागराज की माला पहनने वाले व्यक्ति को भुजगेंद्र हारम कहा जाता है।
• शिव सदैव प्राणियों के हृदय में निवास करते हैं।
• मैं देवी भवानी के रूप में पार्वती और शिव को भगवान भवनसहिता को नमस्कार करता हूं।

Our village name is Trilochan Mahadev and celebration there is amazing (of both shivratri and shravan somvar), though my whole family shifted years ago to the city still we celebrate with utmost devotion here as well.

Shiv ji's Abhishek and jal arpan, praying to him and pushp and bel patra arpan. Keeping fast whole day and praying to him for everyone's well being.

Mahadev though the destroyer is more than a father to us, he's everything and the comfort which I get while praying to him I don't get with anything else
