When i was in college in india, i watched many Amitabh movies first day first show & also throw Money on the screen during amit ji's Entry etc, my many memories inside indian cinema- ghar.

Smaller cities loose electrical power during night hour & they gave us special pass to watch remains of film next day. That was real fun at Food shop after each film

I am glad you opened this thread

I watched Chak De with my friends in a cinema hall that was located near a bunch of colleges, hence it was full of young adults. And then I watched it again with my parents in a different theatre.

I have to say I enjoyed the hooting/cheering the first time, it elevated the movie viewing experience for me. The second watch was underwhelming coz I missed all the reactions from people and also I already knew what was gonna happen nextsmiley36.

Esp that McD fight scene, it was a blast watching it with the college crowd. Full shor sharaba.

That was my only experience of watching a movie with a loud, wild crowd. There was no coin throwing, that would've been weird AF.

Until now, I had no theatre experience I didn't enjoy (or accept). During my first (ten weeks long) stay in Mumbai, I watched the same movie (I liked) in different theatres...just for the different experiences smiley4

I think, there is a possibility to choose the shows and theatres and living in the area, one knows where and when to go for a certain experience, I guess. I also noticed that I can block out a lot when being focussed on the screen.

In Germany, the screenings tend to be very 'calm' - despite a big part of the audience being desi...so, it's me who starts to hoot and whistle and clap...and bingo! the ambiance in the audience gets a bit more 'Indian' smiley36...

Coin throwing common in 1950/1960 & during my era of 70's

I have heard about a Santoshi Ma movie which had people throwing money at the screen and doing pooja and all.
