RS got the best role in this movie.
she won’t gain much from this movie in terms of acting/role. Looks wise one of her best easily, at par with 2States looks.

Aloo's scenes with Rocky ki mummy and didi were so generic. Typical independent, fiesty woman trying to give bhashan to the supressed. So many movies and tv shows have tried that trope.

There was an interview where KJo spoke about this… RS gave life to Rocky who was supposed to be lovable and nice.

But Aloo made Rani more “likeable” as opposed to how she was originally written, aka more opinionated, and sharper.

Idk between KJo and Aloo who veered away from the way rani was meant to be, bht I would have loved to see a more unapologetic, and spicy Rani. Aloo could have nailed it too and I think it would have made some boring scenes pop a litttle more.

If you consider the audience reviews then she is getting a lot of bad reviews from them even now. And as time passes and more people watch it through OTT etc, more and more people will express their opinions and we will see her acting getting panned.Alia turned in one of the weakest performances. She never let Rani connect with neither the audience nor Rocky’s family. The last scene was the worst. What are you saying? She will get the most chappals for that only.

don’t really agree with this. Alia did her part well. Her character was bit annoying but not acting. Most reviews here ( by professionals) said both did their job well as Rocky and Rani. Not seeing any negative review for her acting!

Story:

I think the film is great! Is it Karan Johar’s best work though? Probably not. But it’s definitely a lot better than some of the recent crap that has come out.

I also wouldn’t say the film is “new” or pathbreaking, it’s pretty much the Dulhania series with some good msging thrown in. Entertaining for sure though. Karan is always great at aesthetics and overall visuals.

Songs

Not sure if I am the only one but… I found the songs really irritating and annoying lol. There were too many of them, and alot of them were unnecessary. I felt nothing during Tum Kyu Mile. I would say only Hearthrob and Dindora were good enough and required. I also liked the Lover song bit. I also felt like nostalgia was used to elevate the movie, people often think highly of old stuff. I didn’t really enjoy all the old songs and that whole bit. that’s where the film kind of dragged.

The songs of the films are forgettable compared to previous Dharma gems, maybe that’s why they used old songs to make an impact (which I found very gimmicky)

Performances :

FACT, I repeat FACT: This is ONLY Ranveer’s movie. He completely overshadowed everything and it’s also one of his best acting performances. He displayed a wide range of emotions, made you drool over him while feeling for him too. Not to mention he looked like a fricking snack. I think Rocky is the best male character Karan has directed, usually I find his characters annoying. There is nobody in the industry who can do this role. NO ONE. Only Ranveer can do this, even his dancing in the movie showed his capability and versatility. I hope the industry continues to invest in this amazing artist!

Although there are feminism and woman empowerment elements/messaging in the movie. The men of the movie truly stole the show for me. They carried the movie for me. Dharmendra, Tota, and Aamir truly elevated the movie for sure.

Shabana and Jaya were great too! Anjali Anand was great too and her mom in the movie

I would give Ranveer 10/10 for the movie and the movie itself 7/10

Yeah we can agree to disagree but my point is Alia never gets any negative reviews.At the most people will just not say anything( like in Brahmastra reviews ) or will just pile her up with the rest of the cast ( like in this movie) and say all the actors did well. Just try to notice the difference between when she really does well like in Gully Boy. She got more applause for that small role than she got for any other full role, barring Gangu that is.
