It's tricky these days. If an FL does everything herself then to some people it may appear that she's superhuman and mahaan. If she gets help from the ML or another guy then she may be labeled as abla naari, etc.

I think the key is balance - show that an FL can't always have the answer to everything or be invincible, nor does she have to rely on others for every single thing. To quote an ML from a previous Sony show, "it's good to have the capability to solve problems yourself, but to be stubborn about solving every problem yourself is not a good thing". We all need help from other people sometimes and it's often what helps people bond. There's a reason why they say "A friend in need is a friend in deed".

I think Katha did try to book a cab but first her phone signals were weak and then her phone battery died. So Katha does know how to book a cab, its just that she couldn't due to network and no way to charge her phone.

I will not call Katha superhuman. She is bright and could be exception. But no supergirl.

I have seen some people in my life who are all rounder like Katha. Usually school topper are like Katha. They are good in studies, culture activities and captainship and have strong morals. I know a girl in my school who is exactly like Katha (talented, hardworking and honest). I know a man who is topper in our office and in sports too. Katha is shown only good in architect and leadership. I think for the two year she is struggling to earn 40 lac for her son's treatment and it enhances her skills and reduces sleep pattern.

Well this is my problem, TV are showing ML who is businessman/CEO stopping in the middle of presentation so Katha has to step back. And Katha's character is like she prepared herself well because she was hesitant to ask for help. There are many incident which show she is not very comfortable in asking help. I am like this. Such type of people usually take of small things like jacket, online cab for emergency even you are not frequent user. I also carry PowerBank for long trip but it can be exception since she was not experienced with long trip and financially drain.

I am not expecting pure logical things in the drama but if they want to show Katha is independent then she doesn't have to rely on others for small things.

Also it makes more interesting how Katha will fall in love with Viaan.

I can agree with this type of excuse if Katha is only office going woman. But she is real estate broker too. Battery drain, switch off, this things would have happen before also. Do you wanna says she doesn't know how bad our country is in term of woman safety. I can also agree with this of excuse if she is only 22. But she is 30+ and seen much in her life.

Even if she doesn't carry power bank, she can save battery by switching off mobile. I usually do that.

My point is when she said she was handling herself for so many years alone and she doesn't need anyone to protect her than show like that. I felt it is out of character.

This type of love story are becoming cringey because even after tech advancement, if girl can't use brain and rely on Man for protection then it is portrayal of showing woman weak.

Your observations are very good...and i agree to all of them.. Some people say they are fed up of Kathas outfits..but to me that is the most realistic thing in the serial..She is struggling but must have bought some good work clothes prior to joining and she keep repeating them . That is very realistic, also Vian not giving big bashans on the goondas instead just showing his anger was one of the best moment....Also the way Viaan handed over the coat and said I insist is the most natural way i have seen a ML helping a FL..To whoever criticise Katha for not carrying a coat please remember they were supposed to travel early in the morning reach the site by late morning and return in the afternoon.. Sometimes even after much planning i forget to take my kids' coats ...I have a request to all those people finding fault in every small scene...Over criticism will destroy the show...let us be happy we have a very different show without usual saas Bahu drama..here the saas is the most classy and i love how she makes her husband bend to her demands. Let us enjoy the budding proximity of the protagonists and hope for a great show..It has just started .give them time to develop the story....

It wasn't just out of spite. That shows someone familiar with travelling late at night. The only reason she took Viaan's lift later was because she did get scared. Anyone would when confronted by such lewd men.

As for the coat, maybe she forgot or maybe she doesn't own one. One thing I'm loving about this show is that when they say that someone is middle-class or has budget problems, they don't show her living in a lavish house with new clothes everyday and a swanky car. It's realistic. She repeats clothes, she has a 1 BHK flat that she rents, and she worries about her house budget. So maybe she just doesn't own a coat and relies on full sleeved shirts to keep herself warm.

I don't think they are using these moments to develop a love story. These seem more like natural moments that happen. If you think about it, there was no romantic background and wind in the hair when Viaan handed Katha his blazer. It was just another moment in the episode. Similarly with the lift, there was no slow-mo action and then slow-mo walking to Katha and then slow-mo leading her to the car. Heck even afterwards they didn't show Viaan beating the men. They just showed him getting angry and then their broken faces.

Sorry i did mention whom I agree with...It was for Minionboss..

They were busy throughout the day. Viaan did mention how they first rushed to come to Lonavala and then were rushing to check whole site and didnt get a chance to even eat.

In such situations, even the smartest of ppl lapse. that is being human. Just like how in the stress Viaan only turned on the headlight and didnt turn on his car to save his car battery.

Ppl make mistakes during stress situations. noone is perfect. I dont think it is about her not being shown as independent. It is just an eventful day!

I rarely see auto stand these days after ola/uber come. Also auto these days won't stop because they were pre-booked. And not every place you can find auto easily. Katha is not teen girl to make this type of mistake. She is experienced and modern. Especially someone who hesitate to ask for help, they are usually prepared for these kind of normal things.

Regarding coat she has coat which she worn in Dubai or the one she wore in office party. Sure she is not rich because her whole money went to hospital but she is earning well now (more that 1lac) if she is lead engineer in reputed firm.

The love story can take forward without showing unnecessary help from Viaan. These type of gentlemaness is out of date.

as someone who takes autos regularly, I would disagree. I have two auto stands near my apartment and I have regular auto drivers that I can call. I don't use ola because I prefer to go with known guys and so I prefer the stand fellows or my regulars. because I have a fixed routine, I don't even need to give directions or bargain. the moment they see me, they wave and drive to our apartment gate. I get in and go. or I call one of my regulars (from our old apartment atuo stand) and they do pick and drop to wherever we are going. if neither options are available, I just take auto on the run and no, I don't have any problems.

maybe you are in some newer part of a city where there are no autos or you don't take autos regularly. then you have such problem. but otherwise, you can get autos on the run or definitely in the stand. and people are still using them without ola/uber.

1) In today's world, everybody can book cab online but the serial has to show that FL wandering unknown place in search of auto and get into trouble. Even if woman can't be strong physically unless prepared but they can protect themselves by handling smartly. If Katha is handling this for so many years, she must know this. But for showing herogiri of ML, they have to show FL dumb.

2) They are going to Lonavala which is cold place and Katha didn't carry her jacket. Wow. So that they have to show cringey way of showing herogiri.

Can't they make love story of really strong and independent woman?

I do travel by auto, sometimes an uber and sometimes from the stand or a run on auto. My first preference is an auto from stand or run on. I book an auto or cab if I don't find it otherwise. I don't find it odd if Katha is trying to get an auto on run. In last episode, she could not get a cab as her mobile signal was weak and battery got dead. And that was not any city I think.

Lonavala trip was not planned one. It was sudden and unexpected. and they thought of a day trip and they had to take a halt due to car break down. I forget many times to take a jacket or socks or gloves even when I plan the trip a week ahead. So I don't find it odd that she did not have a coat. What Viaan did was the most natural reaction anyone should have done in that situation.

Many times it happened that I took my power bank, but forgot to take the cable. Even many times I called home from the hotel reception or some colleague's phone to inform that I reached safe. It is very common in real world also.

Most importantly, what is the definition of a strong and independent woman? Does it mean you have to be super woman if you want to be strong and independent?

Does it mean taking help from someone will make you less strong and less independent?

After all a woman is also a human being, and humans are bound to fall weak and vulnerable at times and there is no harm to take help from someone. Mango can write on that I think

PS: Katha as an FL has many other flaws and so is the story line and execution. But I will forget those flaws as the show is being aired on ITV in Indian sub continent and they are far relatable than other shows being aired on any of the ITV channels

Exactly this! Why do we burden women so much for being perfect and independent. It is okay to get help sometimes and it is okay to forget things or make mistakes. We do not need to be perfect every moment to prove we are independent and strong. Anyone may need help in one point of time or another.

We know to plan and manage a lot of things for our travel or work or for kids; but we still forget or miss things. it is okay!!

In fact I like how they are not showing Kathaa as some unreal mahaan woman. She asks for help and she didn't do it all alone. She has some good friends/wellwishers who are supporting her. Like Falguniben and her friend Rewa. and recently dodo helps her so much.
