If vegetarians are given veg based protein then Baa and Priya should been given the same considerations and shouldn't have been eliminated. Gurki should not have to cook with non-veg either.
How things went bad even she MIGHT (atp i don't even trust judges, but on their words), be a good cook:
1. Her favouritism has been irking viewers for a long time. It escalated after egg challenge.
2. She did a good thing, good for her. She doesn't want to handle eggs, she had a way also to save herself, good for her. The problem came up with the tweet tagging CM and PM and making it religious agenda of Proud part of a community, which was highly unnecessary.
3. Now comes her aggressive PR, i have seen misinformation like her giving up 25 lakhs rupees or leaving the show over not cooking eggs, which are both untrue.
4. Friday's episode was nail in the coffin. One, she was given a whole different ingredient to cook where the competition was to cook same ingredients. Others tried to even accomodate her but she refused to do the same thing for others.
5. It did not go down well with the viewers because one, fish and paneer and completely different ingredient with different time and cooking requirements, giving her disguised advantage. Second, Priya and baa were not given such choices. So the line drawn here is beliefs based on religion and not beliefs themselves?
She could have left this challenge as well like she did egg one because it was race to immunity pin and not an elimination round for not using fish.
6. Her kalakand stuffed Chayote was nothing innovative, lacked any advanced technique (which other contestant were given comments on), and was off taste wise and presentation wise, yet it landed in top 2. We have already seen 2 kalakands in consecutive episodes - one from sous chef, other from KDK, still she got top 2, for what?
7. Then definitely even if her background isn't in play, people would question it, that why is she given so much preference? Is it because strings are being pulled somewhere or the other?
8. People who know that it is unfair to give her a different ingredient than other contestants but are in dilemma that whether a vegetarian cannot be a MC - the answer is simple, there was a veg edition previously, participate in that. You come to a show with certain requirements. Astonished to see, when this accomodation has never take place in the history of MC, is it fair to do so now? Rules are bent for one person, to make it fair atleast accomodate everyone then, why just one, in the same edition, that too.
Conclusion is: Well again, channel definitely had to pull string to avoid backlash in today's religious volatile environment. While the debate does not boil down to non veg vs. veg, but the ability of MasterChef to handle all the ingredients despite their beliefs, it is difficult to make it understandable to public, despite all this being highly unfair to other contestants.
^-The part of tagging CM and PM was stupid on twitter. She used the immunity pin to basically safeguard herself, which is fine. No hullabaloo was required over it. Yeah, questioning of the alternative wherein if she weren't to be possessing the pin at that time could've also stirred some level of controversy/backlash. So, fine, I decided to let go of that matter because she had the pin to safeguard herself despite being cognizant of the SM stupidity & drama-mama over never cooking with eggs which was reinstated over SM over a post & tagging politicians. 😆I felt pity for the channel in a comedic way lol 😂 when I heard of this action b/c it's definitely not a new thing when channels would receive backlash over religious beliefs. I doubt, if unless coerced, politicians would care much if they were to properly watch the episode & see her actions like she's trying to glorify herself or something lol.
-Rejecting 25 lakhs INR was a misinformation w/o a 2nd doubt. I don't believe much of these social media new portals to be frank. She was arrogant over choosing basil when clearly the other 4 co-contestants were not happy with the choice. Her dish was presented was lacking innovation -- just a paneer stuffed in a slice of chayote to be honest --- plating with sauce looked like a jhoota khaana or spilled tomato sauce by accident lol. 😂
-I agree over participating in S4 at that time or not participate at all if she wants to stick to her beliefs lol , especially after the friday episode. Channel's decision was understandable to avoid backlash & loss of viewership but she is highly limited in sticking to South Indian dishes, IMO.
The channel doesn't care about getting backlash re religious sentiments. If they did, they'd surely have given all the vegetarian contestants veg protein from the beginning. I am sure the producers have plausible deniability in case one of them sues them for oppression of religious freedom.
They clearly only are walking on eggshells with she-who-shall-not-be-named because she's from a rich community and has political contacts to make their lives hell. If she were a poor contestant then they wouldn't have given a flying fùck.
P.S. How is cooking egg with heat any different from cooking it with the acids of the sugar? Meringues are semi-cooked eggs lol. Also, an egg is not scientifically a living being but to each their own.
Aruna and the bias story has made it to BBC
I don't think she-who-shan't-be-named has much to gain from these shenanighans apart from clout. It is the judges who are losing their credibility especially when they most likely are not making any of these decisions regarding her. They still walk away with a hefty check; I feel bad for the rest of the contestants, tbh.
Oh Boy!! This will not end until the season ends! Aruna may win the show, but not respect or admiration
I have been a silent viewer but this partiality made me come out of my IF hiatus.
With each day the undue advantage is very clear. First the theatrics from Aruna on social media after "sacrificing" her pin and now it looks like the makers are scared about round 2 drama so they just handed her the paneer.
Just like Priya if she wanted to stand by her principles here are the two options:
1) Cook without protein since you are so skillful with flavors and made it so evident that this was her fav fruit
2) Or the makers should have let other contestants use paneer as well to keep the comparison fair.
Also, let's pretend that Aruna didn't just pick her kalakand idea from the celebrity chef earlier in the week. So much for innovation.
I genuinely felt Aruna was promising at the start of the show but has dropped her further in my list besides all the unnecessary praises is her high handedness. Just observe how she talks to Nayan during each team challenge and it is telling; and no that is not how leadership looks.
in other seasons contestants were not given this option. I dont remember which season but that year's winner was a vegetarian and she couldnt taste the dish to balance the spices so one of the judges had approached her and had asked her the list of spices that she had put and had volunteered to taste it to tell her if the balance was rightOriginally posted by: KabutarHoled20
I respect religious beliefs but my point is if Aruna's given the paneer then the rest should cook with paneer. If others are cooking with salmon, then she should cook with salmon. Make it a fair game otherwise don't participate. This season involves cooking with non-veg items in it besides veg items, so she should've participated in a veg season or not participated at all if she's a "PROUD JAIN." No offense to my fellow Jains/veg people who are strict with their diet but this is just my sole opinion here based on today's episode from a viewer's POV.
Last time, she had the immunity pin, so she used it to save herself for not cooking with eggs. Fine, she made her choice because she had the immunity pin so she used it for the sake of her religious beliefs. But what if she didn't have an immunity pin at that time? Zyaada se zyaada, I'd assume she would walk out or something lol. 😂 Followed by probably some media stunt or whatever backlash channel might've had to face lol. But, chalo theek h, she made the choice because she got that pin at that time so her choice to use it at that time, irrespective of the reason.
Now, she's fighting for that same immunity pin & she gets to cook with paneer whereas others were cooking with a different protein. Had protein been paneer itself under the cloche or tofu or some other veg/vegan proteins are listed, surely she wouldn't be making those weird faces when 2 cloches had non-veg protein under 'em. I'd guess, this post wouldn’t been made either lol. But, it's completely unfair! Favoritisms at its heights! 😕
I'm a vegetarian myself & I don't eat eggs/non-veg food but it would be unfair to my co-contestants if all cook with same protein and I cook something else. IMO, Aruna shouldn't have participated or been eliminated post the egg round because from a game's POV, it's highly unfair that others cook the same protein & she gets something different.
