Flashback in blue

As the clock struck 1 she swiftly fished out her mobile and texted him
'It's 1... Don't forget lunch...'
She smiled thinking of this new routine they shared and remembered the day she started it. Her flushed cheeks indicated she remembered that night even better. Her cellphone pinged bringing her back to reality.
'Will have in 15 minutes... I promise'
She smiled and sat herself down to have her lunch. She opened the lunch bag to take out her dabba when her eyes fell on it.... the spoon... to be more specific... his spoon. She had packed his spoon in her bag by mistake.
"How do you expect me to eat in front of important clients without a spoon? You were planning to starve me right? Didn't I marry you to take care of my things? How did you forget? Shouldn't I be your priority? If you keep day dreaming about something else, this is what happens, you careless woman."
She felt her breathing become irregular as her heart became a captive of fear, one more time. She quickly looked at the phone. His reply had come 7 minutes ago. If she was quick enough she would reach his office in 10 minutes. Grabbing the spoon and some money, she rushed out to get an auto. All through the way her lips kept mumbling prayers for the auto driver yo drive faster. As soon as she reached the office, she rushed to the lift pressing the buttons multiple times. To her dismay, she found from the display that both the lifts were nowhere close to the ground floor. One was on the 15th, another on 21st.... His cabin was on the fourth floor. Her watch showed that it was already 13 minutes since she had left the academy. Clicking her tongue, she rushed to the steps, running up skipping some steps in her hurry to reach him before he opened the dabba. As she pushed open the cabin door, she found a sight which she was sure to remember for life.... Anuj Kapadia licking his fingers as he ate her food with utmost pleasure. He seemed to have completed the entire dabba.
Satisfied at having such a good meal and mentally patting his head for earning such a good wife, he wiped his hands with tissues and turned around to get some water when he spotted her. She was holding the door trying to catch her breaths. Blinking his eyes twice to make sure she was really there or it was just a figment of his imagination, he stood up.
"Anu...?"
"Sorry.... sorry... sorry..."
She gasped out taking in deep breaths her hand clutching the spoon tightly. Now that the adrenaline rush was gone, the after effects of the escapade she had just pulled out set in. His eyes widened in shock as he realized she was really there. Her disheveled state shook him. He rushed to her side and ushered her to the couch. Pouring some water in a glass he gave it to her to drink. As she drank, her cheeks that had gone pale slowly regained color and she felt her breathing become more controlled and normal.
"Why....??"
"I forgot to keep the spoon... I am... uh..."
He looked dumbly at her. Seeing her state, his mind had conjured up images of the kids in danger, Bapuji, GK on deathbed and what not... But she had actually come running because she had to give him a spoon
"You came running because you forgot a.... a spoon?"
"I wanted to come before you started lunch..."
She looked up to see him standing with folded arms and jaws clenched. His piercing gaze made her shiver a little. He looked angry.
"Sorry.... sorry... sorry.... I... really..."
She got up and placed her hands on his arms rubbing them in an attempt to soothe him.
"I was in a hurry today morning.... and I forgot the spoon...."
"The spoon..?"
He pushed her away and held her shoulders.
"Do you really think I am angry because of the spoon, Anupama?"
She nodded earnestly. He pulled back and looked away, his eyes tearing up as it sunk in what 26 years without him had turned her into.
"Sorry... I.... Is it something else...?"
He shut his eyes as her nervous voice continued.
"Did I forget something else?"
"Yes."
He turned around and made her sit. Kneeling in front of her, he took her hand in his and looked into her eyes.
"You forgot that I can definitely live a lifetime without a spoon but never a moment without you. You forgot that if I lose the spoon, I can replace it a million times but I can never replace you. You forgot that you are the most important part of my life.... not... this spoon.... why Anupama? Why did you forget, Anupama....?"
Her eyes filled with tears and she pulled him into a hug.
"Sorry... sorry... sorry...."
He put his arms around her holding her tight making her understand his love for her. She pulled back and cupped his face. Placing small kisses all over his face, she said
"I love you.... so much... so so much..."
He nodded through his tears.
"I know... I know you do..."
She wiped the tears off his face.
"Sorry for scaring you... I won't do that again... I promise..."
He reached up and placed a kiss on her cheek.
"Thank you, Anupama.... you didn't eat na? I knew it... come I will get something for you...."
He was about to stand up when she grabbed his hand. He raised his eyebrow and she lowered her eyes, her cheeks coloring up.
"What....?"
"Uh... uh..."
He tipped up her chin.
"Tell me..."
"Uh... can you call me Anu once... the way you usually call when we.... uh... you know..."
He grinned at her request and placed his lips on her eyelids.
"My darling Anu..."
His lips moved to her cheeks.
"My baby Anu..."
He moved to her ear and gently sucked her earlobe.
"My wifey Anu...."
He then placed kisses on her jaw.
"My Anu..."
Moving to the other ear he kissed it whispering
"Anu.... Anu... Anu..."
With that he claimed her lips.
