Being a single parent now I tell my girls every chance I get that there is nothing I can't help them with and I try not to react with anger as my first response when they make a mistake!

The tiny ruby roses were beautiful and the gold leaves that encrusted them looked enchanting. The almost invisible thin gold vine that held them together shone through. It looked like it would be the perfect neckpiece for her until her eyes caught another. Two intricately carved golden peacocks stood opposite to each other, their heads almost touching and their feathers sparkling with emerald stones made up for the length of the neck piece. Both the neckpieces were unique and pretty in their own way. She had never seen such beautiful jewelleries in her life before. When he had stopped by this afternoon saying he wanted to take her out shopping, she didn't expect to be taken to the best ever jeweler in Gujarat. She turned around to look at her husband busily typing away something. Some client had called and asked him to send some details immediately. He had tried to avoid but then she had persuaded him to complete the work while she selected something for herself. She gently toyed with them both unsure of what she wanted. She wondered if she could ask him what he liked when a voice in her head screamed making her drop the jewelry at once.

"Uh... tell me which one would look good out of these two?"

"Can't you see I am busy? I am paying right? Get whatever... I don't care. Here is the money... be quick."

She shut her eyes and swallowed. Mr. Shah had never shown any interest or pleasure in what she wore. Sure, he gave the money for the jewelry she wanted but he had never picked up things for her. He would either ask the shopkeeper to pack the set with the least making charge or ask her to take something and get out quickly. It was as if he was doing something he had to do out of duty of being her husband and nothing else.

"Done... finally... Anu...?"

She looked up to see his intense gaze on her. Unsure of what she should say, she mumbled

"Uh... oh... I.."

She pointed at the two neckpieces. He looked at them and looked back at her with a smile.

"Aah... I get it. You like these two but don't know what to pick is it? Why don't you take both, Anu?"

"No, no... I want only one... uh... I.."

He took the peacock neckpiece and placed it on her neck. Critically looking at it, he scrunched his nose a little.

"This covers too much of your neck... let's try this one..."

Taking off the peacock one, he placed the roses. He gave a sigh of admiration as the red rubies shone through her white skin.

"Wow...."

His besotted look made a herd of butterflies suddenly flutter at the bottom of her stomach. Turning away quickly to hide the blush that had quickly spread up her cheeks, she removed the necklace and turned to the shopkeeper.

"Please pack this, sir..."

He heard a small click and looked up from his laptop to see her coming out of the bathroom with her hair damp and dressed in his bathrobe. He quickly shut his laptop and placed it at the bedside table. Folding his hands across his chest, he gave her a sly look.

"Is that my bathrobe you are wearing?"

"Oh is it... I didn't notice...."

Saying so, she casually untied the robe and let it slowly fall off her shoulders. His jaw dropped open as he saw his gorgeous wife standing naked in front of him wearing only the ruby rose necklace they had got today morning. In the dim light of their bedroom, the rubies and the gold shone so prettily on her white skin that he was spellbound. He had seen her naked many times now but every time he saw her, his heart somersaulted and his brain stopped working. Never in his wildest dreams had he thought that his Anu would voluntarily come in front of him like this. He pinched himself to ensure he wasn't really dreaming.

Anu on the other hand was starting to get nervous as he simply gazed at her. She couldn't decipher whether he liked her move or not. Her ex husband had always been disgusted if she had ever tried to initiate romance and hence it had taken a lot of courage for her to put into actions this idea that had popped in her mind the minute she saw his gaze on her at the shop. She bit her lip nervously and mumbled

"You seemed to admire this neckpiece very much... so I thought of wearing it... oh well... let me go and change..."

As she slowly bent down to take the discarded bathrobe, he caught her by the hand and pulled her towards him. As she fell on top of him, she scanned his face to see any signs of disgust or anger. She found nothing of that sort. As if to snuff out her fears, he wrapped his arms round her waist, securing her closer to him and placed his lips close to her ears whispering huskily

"You know... I admire the person wearing the neckpiece more... Do you want to know how much?"

Her fears all gone as his breath fanned her face and his fingers carressed her back softly, she giggled and nodded happily in anticipation.

"Let me show you..."

With that he gently placed his lips on hers.
