Intermittent fasting worked for me in the initial years of my weight loss journey.

I think I was under depression in 2013 due to failed marriage. I was lazy to do even the basic chores and late night munching has become a part . The careless life style lasted for 3 years and by 2017 I weighed 82 kg , around 24 kg overweight.

One day I got opportunity to join a trekking group and that changed my life. I met a bunch of strangers ,ladies from different field and different age and their enthusiasm for life gave me motivation. Next month I joined inner engineering program of a Guru and it gave me inner strength. ( The more I read about him ,the more I despise him ,but the 7 day inner engineering program is good as it includes meditation and breathing exercise)

After that I started workout, initial months less than 10 minutes workout ,meditation and no food after 6.00 pm. I kept water bottle in one hand distance and drank 3 litre daily. Within 3 months I lost almost 10 kg and it motivated me to lead a healthy life . Later I worked out for minimum 45 minutes with one cheat day in a week.

But i avoided maida products , limited rice intake and mostly used brown rice. Changed the tiffin box size, by that I meant I use big box for sabzi and curry box for rice or oats. I avoided tea , coffee, milk basically all beverages which takes with sugar. I don't drink milk ,instead i relied on yoghurt.

When we exercise we lose muscle mass so I did weight training thrice in a week and includes protein rich food in my diet ,like chicken, sprouted green gram, egg etc. Started using healthify app which keeps a check on calorie intake.

I never sacrificed any food I liked ,but portion control was there.

Trust me I am a foodie so much so that I can write a book on best food outlets in ernakulam and any place i visit . But i have become conscious of what I eat and it made me opt healthy food.

Also the first trekking experience and meditation kept me motivated as in order to do trekking you should be healthy. On 2017 I was unable to breath properly by the time I reach first floor, but eventually I have successfully trekked almost all popular trekking place in kerala. Within one year i become 62 kg .

Unfortunately this year after COVID infection i gained weight as post COVID i suffer from chest pain , tiredness and breathing problem . But to stay motivated i booked kedarkanda trek for Feb and I know I don't have any other option than loose weight before the Trek.

I know I brag when it comes to weight loss but if I can anyone can lose weight. I am in my 30's .

Some tips I have used that worked for me.

Count the calories you eat. Keep a food diary. Calories deficit works. Maximum 500 calories deficit each day.

Eat more potions of protein vege and fruits. But DONT skip Carbs. Have some carbs for energy.

Workout. If 90% is food 10% is exercise. You CANNOT ignore the 10%. Start small. I started with counting my steps for the day. I have a steps counter watch that my govt provides for free to track the steps. Do 5K first then slowly increase to 10k and then to 15k. Slowly add on other activities when you are free. Swimming, skipping and so on. Gym isnt the only place you can exercise. If you have mental health issues, try yoga or pilates. You lose weight and you also gain some mental peace.

I have this coffee and lemon juice with warm water drink every morning. It works 100%. Start on this.

Skip sugary items. Drink water, plain water. Avoid junk food, fried food, food that are high in sugar content.

Do not do any diets or fasting. It doesn’t work. Infact it makes you to gain weight.

Eat moderately. Don’t over eat any thing, not even healthy foods.

Sleep well for atleast 7 hours. Sleeping and resting reduces stress which will help you to stop binge eating.

Drink atleast 6 glasses of water everyday. Keep yourself hydrated, it will also help you to stay away from sugary drinks and sodas.

At end of the day, nothing is easy. You have to work hard if you want something. If losing weight is your ultimate goal, stick to it, be disciplined.

it will be difficult in the start, but when you see the weight going down, you will know it’s all worthwhile.

Lose weight for your health. Take care!

Yes it is. I'd prefer a short wholesome life with all the junk food I could eat compared to a long boring life eating tasteless food.

Are you visiting Kochi ? If you like non veg , especially seafood, Nawaras, Cheenavala are best options , for Biriyani lovers ,Paragon in Lulu mall ,Kayees , Biriyani hut and Galaxy ( though it is not as popular as the previously mentioned, it is one of the best biriyani )

For vegetarians Brindavan is the best option.

For seafood , toddy shops in Alappuzha is best option . Also mullapanthal which is like a family friendly toddy shop in kochi.

Vasuvettanta kada in chalakudy is the best option if you have plans for Athirampilly water falls visit . But this is like a basic restaurant but food is too good .

Also ,if you are staying in resort , Ramada kochi is too good especially their buffet with live grill starters .I guess it is a 4 star property hence rates will be high but worth staying.

You can DM me if you need any help.😃

So this is what I do. Stop all junk food. Drastically reduce carbs and eat more veg fruits and protein (paneer tofu chicken fish etc). Your stomach will gradually get used to eating less carbs and after a point you won't even be able to eat carbs in large quantities. Measure your food into bowls and eat only that much so that you don't keep going back for more. Don't keep snacking. If you feel peckish, eat something like makhana or dry fruit (in small quantity). And use less oil in your cooking (if you cook !)
