An FIR has been registered against rapper Badshah at the Cyber Crime Police Station in Panchkula after objections were raised over alleged obscenity in his recently released Haryanavi folk track Tateeree. The complaint was filed by Abhay Chaudhary, a resident of Chandimandir, who claimed the song and its visuals promote objectionable content and send an inappropriate message to viewers.
According to the complaint, the track and its accompanying video were released on Badshah’s official YouTube channel and quickly spread across social media platforms. Chaudhary alleged that the video contains offensive language, gestures, and scenes featuring girls dressed in school uniforms, which he described as highly objectionable and disturbing in a public entertainment format.
The FIR states that the visuals and lyrics may promote obscenity and undermine the dignity of women. Based on the complaint, the police registered a case under Section 296 of the Indian Penal Code along with Sections 3 and 4 of the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986. Officials confirmed that the matter is currently under investigation.
The controversy did not emerge from a single complaint. Earlier, two separate objections had already been submitted regarding the same song. Savita Arya from Panipat approached the Haryana Women’s Commission, while lawyer Rajnarayan Panghal from Rohtak filed a complaint with the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights raising concerns about the lyrics.
Both complainants objected to a specific line in the track that reads, “Aaya Badshah doli chadhaane, in sabki ghodi banaane,” arguing that it carries suggestive meaning and could be interpreted as disrespectful toward women. They urged authorities to examine the lyrics and the context in which they appear in the video.
The song was released on March 1, 2026 and has already crossed 4.4 million views on YouTube, reflecting its wide online reach. Section 296 of the IPC deals with acts that may outrage public decency or disturb social harmony, including performances or songs considered offensive. The Indecent Representation of Women Act bars the creation or circulation of content that portrays women in an indecent manner.
