Its a HORRIBLE movie.

She gets raped in the movie, panchayat rules she has to marry her rapist.. his family treats her like trash. But she is a good DIL so she wins his heart, the fall in love.. end of story 🤢

Strange thing, SRK had seen trailer of the movie and asked KJo to cast her as every actress he asked for Tina's role was rejected for KKHH.

There was no Panchayat.. it was a court . And the court technically didn't really want her to be married to her rapist.. she basically forced the judge to give that verdict

Nice movie but Shahrukh's character got on my nerves. So much so that I didn't want Rani to forgive him at the end 😆 But since it's a BW movie we got a cliched happily ever after.

I don't think Shahrukh's character was completely wrong. Can't recall the complete plot. The incident when they got offered the tickets might really hurt someone's self respect.

I yawned and slept while I watched it as a kid but loved it when I saw it again. Rani is the highlight for me of this movie. She is actually Lady SRK who can look good with almost all of her costars

Did she REALLY forgive him? I think she understood that he had learned something about how much he did her wrong. For me, the ending is not this typical "happy ending" but more giving another chance to this couple where both love each other yet had to learn that living together demands more than romantic love.

I found it a very mature movie.

I agree it was a mature movie and tried its best to show how love is not enough to keep a marriage working. But I found Shahrukh's character quite problematic. It's not that he didn't love his wife, but I think in real life it's quite difficult to live with such spouses. His wife was very understanding and supportive towards him throughout and he was pretty much a jerk towards her. They did have their sweet moments and he did realise some of his mistakes if not all, but it all felt very rushed and forced, but then since it's a movie and not a daily soap so there would not have been much scope for character development. But still I didn't want her to come back to him so easily especially because he insulted her so badly in front of her friend and falsely accused his loyal wife of having an affair with him.

Right! Yet he also did understand his mistake and more than showed that he was sorry to have reacted like that.

I also think, that he isn't a man easy to live with but he is willing to understand her, so I think, he really deserved a 2nd chance.

BTW, the end reminded me of the Musical/film "My Fair Lady" where she comes back and gives the pantoufles to Professor Higgins...
