Friends, I would like to discuss something about match fixing in previous era which I heard it from my elders. Pls don't offend me I don't have any intention to degrade any relationship or any place of our country. Pls....pls .... Let me start. As you all know in previous era women were suppressed in their in laws house. So if a girl is born to her, she would like to offer her daughter's hand in her mayka . I mean not only cousins (mama ka beta/beti and bua ka beta/beti & vice-versa) but also if mother's brother (mama) is too young , He could also marry his niece. This is because girl's mother will feel secured for her daughter because daughter's sasuraal is her mayka. In south India not all cousins were considered as brothers and sisters. As I mentioned above they were considered as suitable relation (bava maradalu in telugu) to get married. Perhaps if TriKal get married, Anirudh is equivalent to son for Thakuma and Bonditha's father is equivalent to nephew for Trilochan. So Anirudh and Bonditha's father are like jeeja salasaab relation, where Anirudh almost becomes Mama for Bonditha. Marriage of mama and bhanji also happened till 1980's - 90's period. I don't know about other parts of country, but it had happened in many cases and our story is 100 years back. Due to medical advancements, now many of them stopped to get married in close blood relatives because children born to them will suffer with genetic disorders and cannot have bright career. Sorry for my long post, please anyone felt bad I am really sorry 🙏🙏🙏. I don't mean to hurt any relationships or to degrade any regional beliefs.

Don't be sorry... You brought up correct point..

Even I am aware of these kind of marriages... Bua ke bete se shadi is very common and as per my knowledge prevalent in all of India..

Mama- bhanji is restricted to South India only again according to my knowledge... N I think it is still a practice among underprivileged people.. i have seen such young couples who are house helpers, labours..
