Chapter 6
Everything has become normal now between Shaurya and Anokhi over months!
It's almost time for the final term!
With exams starting next week, nowadays in school it's revision time or you can ask questions if you have any.
All the teachers wished everyone best of luck for the upcoming exams!
Anokhi's exams went pretty well and now the last exam of computer science is left, the following day.
Anokhi has been asking her mother to buy her a computer for months...today finally the guy is coming to install it!
Anokhi grumbled to her mother "Does he have to come today only Mummy?? Tomorrow I have the computer science exam...bad, very bad timing!"
Rama replied with sympathy "I know, I have been calling him for weeks and finally today he agreed to come, I didnt wanna say no as I don't know when he'll agree to come again!"
"Okay!" Anokhi sulked.
It had taken Anokhi a long time to convince her mother to get her a computer because otherwise she had to always go to the nearby cyber cafe and do homework/practice as in school she didn't get much time for practical lessons. And finally when this guy agreed to come after so long, she didn't wanna reschedule and wait even longer to get a computer!
'I should finish revision before he comes with the computer or else I will miss something or end up sleeping late...I want this exam to also go well just like all others!! This is the last exam and then I'll be free for a few weeks before the result comes!!' She thought to herself.
But before Anokhi was done with her revision, the computer guy came. She told him where to install it and went back to studying, he kept disturbing her with his questions and in turn irritating her.
Comp.Guy asked "Which softwares do you want me to install once the setup is done?"
"C++, MS Office and whatever else you think will be useful!" Anokhi replied without even looking at him.
After some time again he asked "Why do you need C++? Do you know it?"
"Yes I know it, I study it in school!" She replied while keeping her eyes on her book.
After some more time he again asked "Do you need any other software in particular? I mean what language will you be learning next year in school?"
Anokhi looked up at him with a confused look and said "I don't know what we will be doing next year!!"
"Well I suggest you find out because it will be difficult to come again just to install a software."
Anokhi "Hmm ok!"
Anokhi wondered to herself 'Ab raat ke 9 baje main kisse poochun, kaise pata karuin?? Haan, Meenu se poochti huin, uske paas to computer hai aur wo Shaurya sir se tuition bhi leti hai, shayad use pata hoga!!' (At 9pm who should I ask, how do I find out? Oh yeah, I can ask Meenu, she already has a computer and she also takes tuition from Shaurya sir, she must know which software we need for next year.)
She quickly called Meenu and asked her which software they will need next year??
"I don't know yaar, I never asked for next year!! Maybe you should call Shaurya sir and ask!" Meenu replied casually.
"What? Call him at this time? Are you crazy?" Anokhi asked, surprised.
"So what yaar...quickly call and ask him what we will need for next year! What's the big deal?" Meenu said as of it was the most reasonable thing to do.
"Uh ok! But I don't even have his number." Anokhi relented.
"Ohhh, I have it! All the kids who take tuition from him have his number!"
"Oh ok! Give it!"

"Thanks yaar! By the way, are your preparations done for the exam tomorrow??"
"Ya almost...I'm just doing revision!"
"Ok great! Good luck yaar and thanks again for helping me!"
After hanging up with Meenu, Anokhi wondered…
'Should I call him now? What would he think if I called him so late at night? But I don't really have another choice...maybe I shud just call him quickly and be done with it so I can get back to my revision! Don't think too much, just do it.'
Anokhi called Shaurya
"Hello!"
"Hello sir! I'm Anokhi!"
Shaurya was surprised and asked "Hello! How are you calling me at this time?? Is everything ok? Do you have any questions before tomorrow's exam??"
"Uh...no...yes...i mean everything is fine! I don't have questions regarding the exam but I do want to ask you something!!" Anokhi nervously replied.
"Ok what is it?" Shaurya asked.
"What softwares will we be needing next year??"
"What? You called to ask about next year??" Shaurya asked confusingly.
"Ummm Yes, actually my mom bought me a computer and the guy is installing it right now and was asking what all softwares I need?? I didn't know so I called Meenu to ask but she gave me your number and asked to call you." Anokhi explained in one breath.
"Oh ok! Let me talk to the guy, I will tell him."
"Ok, sure." And she handed over the phone to the guy!
After they both talked he gave the phone back to Anokhi.
"Thank you sir!"
"No problem! By the way don't get excited and spend too much time on it tonight and study for the exam tomorrow…" Shaurya cautioned.
"Yes yes I won't! I haven't even looked at it...I was doing revision only!!" Anokhi quickly clarified.
"Great! Do you have any questions?"
"Uh no, thank you!"
"Ok! Best of Luck for tomorrow! Good night!"
"Thank you! Good night sir!"
Next day in school
Anokhi saw Shaurya answering questions of students in the hall as usual!
She wished him Good Morning with a smile and walked passed to her class!!
Shaurya once again felt amazed seeing her and thought to himself 'She is always so calm before the exam unlike everybody else who is freaking out!! Actually, it's a good thing!!'
Anokhi was doing her paper and Shaurya came to that room to relieve the teacher there! He saw Anokhi busy doing her paper...she of course was so busy that she didn't realize his presence. Shaurya smiled looking at her and went and stood behind her for a few seconds...that's when Anokhi felt someone was standing and she looked up to see who it was and was surprised to see Shaurya there! She gave him a nervous smile and turned back to her paper...she was just sitting staring at her paper and not writing anything now...Shaurya realised she was getting nervous so he moved away.
Anokhi let out a sigh of relief when he left the room 15 mins later and got back to finishing her paper!
Soon she finished her paper, handed it over and left the room!!
She finished it 20 mins early and hence she went out and started waiting for Reema who was in another room a couple doors down!!
Suddenly she heard someone from behind...
"Are you done with your paper?"
She turned around and saw Shaurya standing there…
"Ummm yes!" She said.
"Wow! Was it very easy?? You finished it so fast!"
"No...uh...y y yes...i mean it was okay!"
"Good! Enjoy your holidays!!"
"Thank you, you too Sir!"
Then they both went their separate way.

During the holidays Anokhi initially enjoyed them but as the holidays were coming to an end she started worrying about her results!!
Result day
Anokhi left home with Rama to go to school!
They reached school and went straight to the class and saw Mr. Kohli! He was very happy to see Anokhi...he gave the report card to her to go through while he finished with the other parent he was talking to!
"Anokhi you did a great job this year, you got the highest marks in Accounts, English and Computer Science."
Rama was very happy and hugged Anokhi and kissed on her forehead!
Anokhi was extremely happy knowing her results!
"By the way, sir, who made these report cards?" Anokhi asked, smiling and teasing.
Mr. Kohli laughed and said, "I had to do it myself since my assistant was on holiday!!" Then he turned towards Rama and proudly said "You know Mrs. Bhalla, this is my first year as a class teacher and Anokhi here helped me a lot...she used to do so much of my work, I didn't even realize how this whole year passed!! She is such a nice girl, always helping everyone, never says NO for anything to anyone!! You are a great Mom!!"
Rama was so happy hearing praises of Anokhi and felt really proud of her! She thanked Mr. Kohli and stood up to leave when Mr. Kohli asked them to go and meet other teachers too, specially english and comp.science as Anokhi scored highest in these subjects!
"Sure sir!" Said Rama and they both made their way to see Mrs. Rita, the english teacher!
Mrs. Rita happily greeted "Hello Anokhi beta!"
"Hi mam! How are you??"
"Mrs.Bhalla she is a wonderful girl and she has topped this year...I'm very proud to be her teacher!" She praised.
Rama couldn't be happier...she was so proud of Anokhi and the happiest mother!!
Next they went to see Shaurya!
Shaurya with a big smile greeted them "Good Morning!"
Anokhi & Rama replied together "Good morning!"
Shaurya looked at Anokhi "You must already be knowing your result.", he asked smilingly to Anokhi!
"Yes sir!" She smiled back.
"Are you satisfied with it?" He asked.
"Ummm yes, but can I still see my paper? I wanna know where I lost those 9 marks!"
Shaurya smiled "Ya sure, why not!"
He took out her paper and handed it to her!
While Anokhi was going through it, Shaurya started talking to Rama!
"You must be very proud of her today, she has done very well in all her subjects I heard"
"Oh yes of course! Before I came here I was worried thinking what the result would be, because she just told me her exams went ok! I had no idea they went so well, she didn't tell me. I thought all the subjects were new so she was not confident and did only ok, but I am so happy that she did so well and all the teachers love her! She is always talking about how she loves computer science so much and she even made me buy her a computer...she was constantly eating my head off until I bought it!" Rama casually conversed.
Anokhi was listening to her mother all embarrassed while looking down at her paper. She was shocked how things were turning and thought 'I need to get out of here before Mummy embarrasses me any more…'
Shaurya was looking at Anokhi all smiling & noticed she was not happy with her mother revealing about her like this.
"Yes she is really good in computer science as you can see her marks, I am quite satisfied with her result. She does really well in class too!"
Anokhi thought to herself while they kept talking about her as if she wasn't sitting right there, 'Why did I ask to see the paper, I should have just left quickly! Ise kehte hain apne paer pe khud kulhadi maarna! Mummy bas karo...he doesn't need to know all this!'
Anokhi quickly returned the paper "Thank you sir! I think we should leave…"
Then tuning towards her mother. "Mumma lets go, other kids are waiting." She couldn't get out of there fast enough.
Shaurya was amused seeing her in a hurry to leave, knowing well the reason behind. "Sure! See you next week!"
As Anokhi and Rama left the computer lab, Shaurya chuckled.
Outside the lab
"Mumma, what was the need to say all this to him!!" Anokhi asked, frustrated.
"What? Didn't you eat my head off for the computer??" Rama teased.
"Ya ok, but what was the need to tell him??"
"I was just making conversation while you were checking your paper! What is the problem?? You wanted me to sit quietly?? That would have been rude!!"
"Ok forget it! I don't have any problem, let's just go. Oh and tonight I wanna go out for dinner!" She said effectively changing the conversation topic.
"Sure, let's all go out tonight."
Anokhi went out for dinner that evening with her family to celebrate!
Soon the week passed and Anokhi got her new books, dress and shoes etc. and was ready to be back in school!!
Anokhi wondered to herself 'Tomorrow is the first day of grade 12! I wonder who will be our class teacher this year? At Least this year we already know all our subject teachers. So no surprises there!!'
Next morning in School
Anokhi reached her class and met all her classmates. Reema also reached and met Anokhi.
"Hi Reema, Isn't it great to be back in school??"
"Oh ya...I was so bored at home!!"
"Me too!"
"Chalo, finally we can see eachother everyday again and have fun."
Both friends happily chatted away.
Soon their classes started and Mr.Kohli came and said "I am your class teacher this year too."
Reema nudged Anokhi and said "Is saal bhi teri khair nahin...pichle saal ki tarah saara kaam tujhse hi karwane wale hain sir!" (You are screwed this year as well, you will again have to do all his work.)
Anokhi rolled her eyes saying "I know! Koi baat nahin yaar ab to aadat ho gayi hai."
Mr.Kohli further revealed "I was made the class teacher of the Maths section this year but I asked Mr.Sharma to change and give me this class only."
"Great sir! We would have missed you otherwise!" Anokhi replied, showing fake smile.
"Really Anokhi?" Reema teased.
"Chupkar yaar, marwayegi kya?" (Shut up Reema) Anokhi scolded.
Mr.Kohli called Anokhi to take the keys and get the attendance register, etc and asked her to take attendance.
"Yes sir! Do I have the same duties as last year??" Anokhi asked.
"Of Course!" Came his casual reply.
Soon they got their timetable, it was pretty much the same as last year!!
Anokhi had the same routine as last year - getting keys from Mr.Kohli, taking attendance, returning keys and running to comp.lab!! And looking at Shaurya when he passed from outside the class before lunch break.
Soon a few months passed and things were going smoothly!
"Hey Anokhi, can I talk to you??" Meenu, one of her classmates asked.
"Ya sure, tell me?" Anokhi asked.
