Riddhi Thakkar dies after trailer hits her bike in Dhamtari during group ride from Mumbai

A 24 year old woman from Mumbai died after her motorcycle was hit by a trailer in Chhattisgarh’s Dhamtari district. Riddhi Thakkar, a resident of Kandivali West, was travelling towards Bastar with 22 other women when the accident took place near Marka Tola village on NH 30.

According to the information available, the group was on a motorcycle ride from Mumbai towards Bastar. A trailer approaching from the opposite direction collided with Thakkar’s bike, leaving her seriously injured.

An emergency call was made to 112 after the accident. Thakkar was initially taken to a health centre in Charama. However, as her condition deteriorated, she was shifted to a private hospital in Dhamtari.

Doctors at the hospital examined Thakkar and confirmed that she had succumbed to injuries sustained in the accident. Her body was subsequently moved to Dhamtari district hospital for a post mortem examination.

Once the formalities are completed, Thakkar’s body will be handed over to her family. The accident has left her fellow riders and family members dealing with the sudden loss.

Police have registered a case in connection with the incident and are questioning the other women who were travelling with Thakkar. Further details about the accident are expected to emerge as the investigation continues.

Following the incident, the Mayor of Dhamtari Municipal Corporation reached the spot. He also informed Thakkar’s family about the accident.

The Mayor said that all possible assistance would be provided to the family.

The incident has also drawn attention to the risks faced by motorists travelling on highways, particularly when sharing roads with heavy vehicles. While the exact cause of the collision is yet to be established, the police investigation is expected to determine how the trailer struck Thakkar’s motorcycle.

For the 22 women who were travelling alongside her, the ride ended in an unexpected and tragic manner. The group had been travelling together towards Bastar when the accident occurred, turning what was planned as a journey into a fatal incident.

Police will examine the sequence of events and circumstances surrounding the collision.
