I am here because I enjoy the show and would like to share my thoughts about the negativity shown towards the storyline with fellow viewers. Most of the time it is fun while exploring these fictional characters. Some of my friends ask me why I dont follow any hollywood series/soaps. I tell them that I like Indian ITV shows because they show the mirror to our society. So these characters that we see on TV, are very much real and reflect the dynamics in the society. They could be wrong but not un-real.
Some of us will identify with one or more characters closely and empathise with them. It is natural. But I got baffled when in some posts people said Virat lusts over Sai. I just switched off from that thread Not even a single time in the story I felt that. He was so deeply in love according to me!. Otherwise also he was very caring and protective about Sai. And also his lukewarm response to other family members except for Sai and his Aai is also so relatable to me. Dont we shout at our mother and spouse even for a small disagreement. It is wrong but it just human nature to take closest people for granted! Virat's character is not godly to behave in equilibrium. He is mere human being, who is in love, who lacks trust and who expects trust...that makes the character real and beautiful. same with Sai. We have to see whether they evolve as better human beings going forward. What Virat did to Sai is unacceptable if he keeps doing it again and again. But when they are building their relationship this happens, it is real!.
If an ITV shows abuse, it is because there is abuse in the society. If the show glorifies it then we should have a problem. If the story shows that this is not right and proceeds to show what is right then we can give the characters as well as story, as well as this show a chance.
Sorry for the rant but I thought I should put my thoughts to make others feel okay to like/dislike the characters and critisize them. But blaming the story/characters before seeing its progression unnecessarily creates negativity.
That's a beautiful post. 👏 No matter how many times we have said it that Virat only shouts at his wife and mother but we know that it's because he is closest to them. It will be interesting to know how he will grow from his mistake and how all the characters will. So it's good to criticize, make fun without crossing the line. As you said even I have read that Virat lusts over Sai. I didn't ever care to comment because it's better to ignore such negativity. I haven't visited Twitter for a week for the same reason. Today just tweeted one thing and ran away. 🤣
