ARR is (controversial opinion) more of a hype...I like some of his songs but the rest don't do it for me.

@bold: can u list the ones who sat with the judges and the one with the guests? Maybe there is a common thread we can all link.

Bold:

With judges - A R Rahman, Badshah, Rekha, Bapi Laheri, the lyrist Manoj Muntashir Asha Parekh, Dharmendra to name a few

With contestants and their families:

Ajay-Atul, Pyarelalji, Subhash Gai, Jackie Shroff, Govinda, Amit Kumar,,

I’m sure there are more. Hope fans here might be able to add to list

Wow you are lucky. Kalyanji-Anandji are from my home town in India.

Their friend who is music business over here also from same place. When I met them, they were talking in kutchi language with their friend.

I have met few Bollywood singers and stars and tv stars. Arjun ram pal, Hrithik Roshan, Mahendra Kapoor, Talat Mehmood, Juhi Chawla, sukhwinder Singh, Kumar Sanu, Aishwarya Rai, Karishma Kapoor, Rani Mukherjee and so many. Also tv serial leads. All of them so so friendly and gave you autographs. No airs and graces

when u say music business u mean someone from Bollywood who's moved there or someone who works for events? There are many people I know who used to work in either media, music, radio etc who have migrated to the UK. Most of them are Gujaratis/Kutchis.

Maybe u met them all with the right people or else some of them are pretty arrogant, I worked at a hotel so I have seen their behaviour first hand 😆

He recently posted a reel singing "In lamhon ke daaman mein" and it made me think that he could have done wonders during the AR Rahman special. I was especially hoping to hear him and Arunita sing "Radha kaise na jale." Also, "jashn-e-bahara," "saathiya," etc.

I didn't watch the ARR Special and probably won't...not a fan at all. I know many might judge me or bash me for this!

Nachiket would have rocked the Kalyanji-Anandji episode for sure. There are so many songs he would've nailed. Like Zindagi Ka Safar, Ek Tha Gul, Akele Hai Chale Aao, Phool Tumhe Bheja Hai.

Ok it looks like its the guest's choice.

Most actors seem to sit with judges while the music people sit with the contestants...

Dude, where do you work and what do you do? How have you met so many celebrities? 😆

I’m not into music or media entertainment industry I like going to concerts and meet them back stage, or have met them at Indian channels mela which were being held every year where Bollywood and itv serials leads are invited by them. If Zee mela, depending which is their big trp show, their leads brought over. Same with other channels. I met sukhwinder Singh in mela and also Hrithik Roshan and Arjun Rampal.

The friend and his son have a wholesale business of exclusive Indian wear - sarees, kurtas, etc. They also have their record label but into religious songs and bhajans and classical which they record with anup jalota, asit desai and his wife, Hariprashad Chaurasia and few more.

The friend and his son are also musicians and perform bhajans at religious events. The friend passed away few years back. He wrote bhajans, sang them and played harmonium. Son plays tabla and teaches also.

I’ like going to concerts and mela’s. See my reply above to @aditi_MM.

I was a volunteer in Asian Indian programme at my local radio station so met few UK bred and born punjabi singers

I’m really enjoying today’s episode. Definitely MBD for me. All singing great. Nice to see Pawandeep. Hated the romance shipping thrown in.

When ritvik said Pawandeep is isolating, Neha’s face as if she didn’t know why Pawandeep was missing.

As I missed half of yesterday’s episode, what did they say on absence of Pawandeep

Wow how many singers Kalyanji-Anandji have introduced and changed their names. All those singers are famous in the world. I’m glad I’ve met them all. (Alka, Sunidhi, sadhana sargam and Kumar Sanu. I’m feeling blessed)

I missed half of the episode but whatever I watched, was a bit disappointed as I thought he was reserved. Something was missing Nothing like L-P or K-A or Kishore Kumar specials

I was surprised at people here being disappointed that he was quiet but then I realized he never comes on Idol so maybe folks haven’t seen him in this context. This is his standard behavior, he is an introvert, very reserved with his words, and only here for the music (also speaking in Hindi is not the most comfortable to him). He mostly shares the stories behind songs and never overpraises unless he truly likes something but at the same time pairs criticism with things contestants did well to lessen the blow.

Though I will say he seemed extra unimpressed with this group in particular, he compliments other shows’ participants more than he did here. Maybe if they didn’t eliminate SO many good singers the singing would be better and he would’ve been happier... 🙄
