There is difference.

Title song means the signature part of the lyrics will have the show's title..

Such as Tujh sang preet lagayi sajna, Bade acche lagte hai.

And opening theme is the one which is played in the beginning of episode. It can be title song/couple's OST as well. (Saiyaan naino ki bhasha samjhe na)

Given the restriction on ad time (I believe it is capped at something like 12 minutes per hour, but certainly looks more), I wonder why they don't do the title song any more. If I remember (very vague memories though), some serials even used to do a recap of the previous day's episode, and that with the song would take up 2-3 minutes.

Unless there is some law on actual show time, they could easily show the title song and recap, and would have to shoot for 2 minutes lesser in each episode, which is a good thing? 😳
