It's not a huge risk at all if it's done in safe conditions. Many women work up to their ninth month and do just fine.

The discussion about working/not working during pregnancy is moot in case of Anushka. Unfortunately, she hasn't worked as an actress since 2018. And I don't see her getting any offers in the future also. She may continue to do commercials/produce content and that's about it.

In general, everybody is a little hesitant to work with pregnant women on sets. Extra care is required and the producers/directors have to be very accommodating in terms of timings and exertion.

Also, more and more women are having children after 30 (not just actresses) and it's important to be careful and vigilant so I think the last thing on their mind is to set an example by working during a pregnancy and full focus is on their own health and the baby.

Taking a break is already normalized. Maternity leave is already a norm. Nobody is saying no to that. But till the time the baby arrives and the mother is in a condition to work, she should be given a chance to work. Of course, if she chooses to take time off, that's totally up to her. But taking time off has nothing to do with having a baby. She can do that any time in her life.

There are already enough examples of actresses in the West and some other older actresses in India who have worked through their pregnancies. This is not happening with the last few generations of actresses and that's worrisome.
