Asad, maybe for the first time in a long long time, which feels like eternity to him now, is feeling the giddy feeling of anticipation, of reconciliation, of a life he was cruelly deprived of, and a life he has only dreamt of. They dreamt it together, Zoya and him. When she would call him "Akdu" and he would call her "Shameless" but secretly could not wait for their forever to start.

He has waited so long. He has waited enough. They have waited enough. Love was above everything. This was the rightest thing he has ever felt. Love. Arduous, inevitable. If this was him a year back, he would have taken different decisions. But he knows now. He understands. He will not deny himself the simplest, the most sacred, the most important right, the right to be with the person he loves, the person who loves him back, unconditionally. They are destined to be together. It can be delayed, by hurdles, by unforgivable mistakes, by society, by family, but no one can stop two people from being together if they are meant to be. And they are meant to be.

This was his mantra. This was his solace. And not for long. She would come and his breathes would be easier, life coming back in his just surviving body. He would never let her go. He would chain her to himself, never let her away from his sight. He would perform their Nikaah himself if he had to, but he promises himself, this time, even time cannot come between him and his love. His Khuda knows he has earned it. His Maula knows he deserves this happiness.

And when his his wishes materialize in front of his eyes, he does not realize. And suddenly she is in front of him, smiling her sunshine smile. Just at him, just for him. And he cannot seem to stop looking at her. She looks like love and happiness and heaven. He cannot seem to get close enough. He cannot seem to draw her scent in his breathe enough. She smells like home and peace and holy incense. He cannot seem to stop touching her. She feels like what silk and dreams are made of. She jumps in his arms and there and then he has his life in his arms. The world could wait, everyone could wait, this is what he waited for. This is what he wants for the rest of his life. Her in his arms. Is he dreaming? He does not want to wake up.

Time seems to slow. Love seems to flow. This is so new to him, this closeness he desperately wanted. And yet it felt like they have done this a thousand times, from a different life, a different him and her. It feels inevitable. It feels as old as time. He has never wanted anything, anyone just for him. But Zoya is just for him. And he, for her. She is his. And he is hers. She is everywhere, in his arms, in his next breathe, in his laugh, in his eyes and in his heart. If he cut it open right now, it would be her smiles that would bleed out. And nothing would change that.
(The windowpane hits the wall, he wakes up from the most wonderful, blessed dream he had hoped was real. Everything, her, fades away. Everything, but the hope in his eyes. She would come. And they would stay together, and never part. She would come.)
