Why do people feel Ayushman is not star material?

I have read multiple posts saying the same thing -- he lacks the aura to be a star, doesn't have star quality etc. In what way is he not star material?

1. Undoubtedly he has swag and X-factor and screen presence.

2. His sub par movies like DreamGirl, Bala also earn 100 crores at box office.

3. He’s definitely a better actor than most of the nepotism crowd pushed onto our faces, add to that he sings well.

4. His performances & backing of small budget movies like Badhaai Ho, Andhadhund, Article 15 is well worth appreciating for sure.

Someone said he enjoys tremendous goodwill, but not stardom. But as we discussed the other day, isn't box-office pull a measure of stardom, as well?

Also, does one have to be over-the-top like Varun and Ranveer to be a star always? Can't one have a restrained personality and be a star?

Ayushman's gentlemanly qualities are redemptive, IMO. He is like a breath of fresh air in the industry.

If that's the case, why did Bala bring in 100 crores despite Ujda Chaman being a better movie which released a week before? The concept was same in both movies, it's Ayushman who brought in the numbers.

He is a good guy but don’t see him as a good actor nor star. Doesn’t work for me at least. All credit goes to the choices of movies he picks.

He should become rajkumar rao’s manager and select all good scripts for him instead so we can see a brilliant talent even more onscreen.

He need to do one big hirani type movie to be considered big league.

Against the popular opinion, bala,dream girl ,smzs all were average movies which got buisness due to Ayushman.

And just quoting from a trade website for 2019:
