Why do people feel Ayushman is not star material? - Page 2

Not sure. He is a big brand now. He’s just as popular as Varun and is more likely to draw in an audience based on name today

Audience trusts his decisions for his movie choices. They are not high budget and he is not paid like a top star so it’s easier to get a hit tag

I guess the argument will be made if he plays the same character in all his films.

He is not . The guy is a proper netflix / TV wala actor whose movies you like to watch bit don't wanna spend money on it.

I always thought Ayushmann had potential.. I noticed this when he was doing MTV shows.. There was this one show where he used to do spoof of Bolly movies.. He was really funny in that..

Ofcourse I never thought he would be the star that he is today.. but he is definitely good.. no doubt about that..

And its not like he is doing just one note, small town guy characters.. of course they are majority, but we also have an Andhandhun and Article15 where no one can say he lacked somewhere actingwise. Also BKB or MPB, somewhat romantic hero roles..

I think it is general trend on IF.. Once someone gains a certain following, u have to question his/her credibility as an actor. Same is starting to happen with Vicky.

But Rajkumar is still praised, people are rooting for him.. maybe because he hasnt got to that level in mainstream yet.. Once he reaches there, people will start questionng his credibility to.

People feel Ayushman is not a star material because:

1. He hasn’t got any BIG project yet.

2. He neither belongs to a bolly family nor dates with someone from a bolly family. Heck he doesn’t even wine and dine with the bollywood biggies.

3. His looks are average.

Hmm. Don't know. Is it because he was married before he came into the industry and hence, didn't try to have this image where he is wooing his female fans?

I know family and friends, especially in the last 2 years, who have gone to theatres for Ayushmaan's movies , BECAUSE of him. He has fans the same way Aamir does - for his film choices. But of course, stardom these days isn't how it used to be. It is very precarious. Two more movies with poor results (like Shubh mangal zyada saavdhaan) and someone else will take his space.

Honestly, I feel that the only person right now who isn't replaceable is Tiger Shroff .

It is mostly because of Point 2 . Not a Dharma blue eyed boy. No scope of linkups since the beginning because of his martial status. Not a filmi kid. So not launched or projected the way Varun was.

I mean, I don't find Varun good looking. He has been dating Natasha since forever. Didn't stop Karan from linking him to others. And Varun never admitted to dating Natasha (though didn't deny it either) . My point is, even Varun, who has probably been sure about Natasha since the beginning, didn't want to admit it that early on in his career to the "public" . And Karan had a field day shipping him with Alia .

Varun hasn't got any solo "big hits" either. But, it is still a perception that he is "star material" . Ayushmaan has actually had a better career than him by miles

I don't know. To me he is a star. If by star material people mean girls are not dropping dead for him or he is not arrogant and seems to be relatable and humble then I guess he is not star material. Or that he doesn't party with the popular crowd and therefore constantly doesn't get photographed or talked about in stupid blinds. The fact that he doesn't look like a regular bollywood hero, and doesn't have the body of one and yet he has a serious audience pull shows he is a star. The man is basically his own genre. I think we are too used to seeing only two types of stars, the young debuts or the old ones who became star over time. Anyone who doesn't fit into these boxes confuse us.

I think he is a star. Obviously, people are still judging present actors with the ones who are ruling since 90s. That's why people think he isn't a big star in comparison to Khans, or Ranveer, Varun, Akshay and many others.

First of all, people become stars not because of their acting, otherwise Salman wouldn't have ruled industry for years. They become stars because of the high budget and Massy movies. The kind of movies Ayushmann does (despite getting great box office numbers) still aren't counted in the league of massy movies, they do business on the content and also Ayushmann has a huge contribution in that. Other things, Ayushman does many movies in a year ,so, that's also is considered as not something which many star actors do. Even Akshay 's credibility went down and Ajay too for doing many movies in a year.

Ayushman rarely has any controversies so he is also irrelevant because of his personal lives. Neithet he is conventionally good looking nor someone who is famous for his personal life.

But still he has everything which many actors crave for. In round table conference, one can see how other actors want to do the kind of work Ayushmann does. They want to be busy like Ayushmann and want to get the scripts of his movies. Ayushmann isn't a great actor but he isn't bad, he got all male debut awards over overhyped Arjun, Siddharth and Varun. He has great line up of movies. He has a national award. He isn't a versatile actor but he is a versatile and intelligent person who can sing, dance, host, and make his movies hit because of the choices he makes. People watch his movies because of the credibility he has made because of the choices.

So Ayushman is s star in my opinion. A different one who doesn't need any tag as he has everything which many stars crave for. It doesn't matter whether he is labelled by others or not.
