I think Ayushmann has created a niche for himself and his type of movies.. and he isn't longing anymore to be in a certain camp or hobnob with the Bollywood biggies.
Maybe I can be wrong also.. coz I thought the same about Vicky.. But now seeing him almost as a part of Dharma camp and him suddenly being frnds with the nepo kids has certainly lowered his likeability factor for me.
But maybe bcoz Aysuh has been in the industry longer and is settled in his personal life as well.. he doesnt seem very eager to please KJo and his gang.. Didnt he kind off bajaoed KJo on Koffee with Karan for his biasness? That was cool.. Otherwise every other celeb on KwK behaves as if being on the show is like some sort of achievement in itself.
Simple. Lacks the X factor and replaceable. He is an average actor. Lets see how long he can milk this so called „Genre“ of him. those kind of movies were already there no one milks it the way he does right now but his last releases it already started slowly to fate.

What's the harm in milking the genre? Isn't everyone doing that at some point? Tiger, Varun, Karthik etc. are all milking diff. genres to stay relevant. Ranveer is the only one who is experimenting with all genres. Rest are happy with what they are offered, and some do a decent job, others don't even manage that.

I think he is a star. Obviously, people are still judging present actors with the ones who are ruling since 90s. That's why people think he isn't a big star in comparison to Khans, or Ranveer, Varun, Akshay and many others.
First of all, people become stars not because of their acting, otherwise Salman wouldn't have ruled industry for years. They become stars because of the high budget and Massy movies. The kind of movies Ayushmann does (despite getting great box office numbers) still aren't counted in the league of massy movies, they do business on the content and also Ayushmann has a huge contribution in that. Other things, Ayushman does many movies in a year ,so, that's also is considered as not something which many star actors do. Even Akshay 's credibility went down and Ajay too for doing many movies in a year.
Ayushman rarely has any controversies so he is also irrelevant because of his personal lives. Neithet he is conventionally good looking nor someone who is famous for his personal life.
But still he has everything which many actors crave for. In round table conference, one can see how other actors want to do the kind of work Ayushmann does. They want to be busy like Ayushmann and want to get the scripts of his movies. Ayushmann isn't a great actor but he isn't bad, he got all male debut awards over overhyped Arjun, Siddharth and Varun. He has great line up of movies. He has a national award. He isn't a versatile actor but he is a versatile and intelligent person who can sing, dance, host, and make his movies hit because of the choices he makes. People watch his movies because of the credibility he has made because of the choices.
So Ayushman is s star in my opinion. A different one who doesn't need any tag as he has everything which many stars crave for. It doesn't matter whether he is labelled by others or not.
Salman Khan Isn't great great actor but he can be decent when he wants to be, he's not great actor but he can entertain the audience with his screen presence and has a unique personality onscreen, its the case with other biggies, akshay, sharukh, aamir, ajay, Govinda, Hrithik, they her unique personality onscreen and screen presence, and all contribute towards their strength, Ayshman is come and go type of actors, he similar to other past type actors post 2000 just with different name.

As I said let’s see how long. Just like let’s see how long people will watch tiger with his acrobatics kicks but in that case tiger is the only one who can offer such kind of stunts.
Varun can do his masala movies but somehow he is not up there in competition with the other Rs anymore. What’s the reason for that? Streetdancer? What is the reason why it didn’t work like it did wonder for him ABCD2?
Time will tell but Ayushmann will be there but not where some people want him to be.

People feel Ayushman is not a star material because:
1. He hasn’t got any BIG project yet.
2. He neither belongs to a bolly family nor dates with someone from a bolly family. Heck he doesn’t even wine and dine with the bollywood biggies.
3. His looks are average.
This. As someone said, one Hirani or SLB movie, and he'll be considered a big star even if the movie flops😆. Power of appearances.

Exactly.
Really depends on how you defend stardom..
For me, a star would be someone with a larger than life persona, which Ayushman is not. Having said that, there is nothing wrong in not being called a "star", when you have millions who agree that Ayushman a good actor and would watch a movie just for him.
I feel like stardom is more than just being good/talented and sometimes not even about talent. I look back and think that Rajesh Khanna was in no way a great actor, but there is no denying that he was a massive star. I loved him so much growing up. Its really about the charm, the personality and the looks.
But with the way world has changed and evolved, maybe its high time we re-looked the definition of a star.. because people no longer enjoy a star or personality that is diva-like and arrogant, like they did in the past.
Great post!
