Emergencies other than Covid have dramatically reduced.
And no,l don't think people with heart attacks are staying at home.l think staying at home and not stressing about commuting to and from work, worrying about the next target and the next raise or promotion, not having to deal with a bad boss etc has dramatically reduced stress.
People now actually have the time to live their lives.
It is time the human race decided whether this endless race for more and more economic prosperity is what we actually want.
Maybe the very concept of economic growth is flawed.
Loved this psychoanalytical thought process Suta.🤗
Bold --- Mainstream economics is terrible at understanding the reality of human behavior in such trying situations. Now, even the respected thinkers are realizing that money has only relative value, not as valuable as your precious life. Globally the shut down is accumulating an enormous loss in numbers, but as you rightly mentioned, the time spending with loved ones, now people are realizing the real value of bonding, the husband has so much time to watch how efficient a multitasking wife he has, kids got an opportunity to spend time with parents without any homework tensions, elders are reliving their 40/50 year back life without any modern noise! No sas--bahu serials to raise tensions, people are watching the well-known Epics umpteenth time with great interest.😊 Money we need to sustain, but not to die for it, while earning it! That is the lesson we learned in a very hard way now.
When we get out of a habit, it’s hard to get back in. So, just like we’re worried about an economic recession, we should worry about a social recession—a continued pattern of distancing socially. Modern life made the man a loner, who prefers to stick to his phone talking to someone, eyes on the TV screen, having lunch or dinner watching crooked plans of the characters on the screen, or else the discourses of politicians during the elections. Now only news is about the dreaded disease, stating how vulnerable we are all.
Silence is telling so much ... please listen to it.
