'YRKKH chal sakta hai toh..': Kanika Maheshwari says EGO CLASHES between Deepika-Anas TANKED 'Diya Aur Baati'

Actress Kanica Maheshwari, who is currently seen playing the negative lead in Seher Hone Ko Hai, became a household name after her memorable stint in the immensely popular show Diya Aur Baati Hum. Anyone who closely followed Indian television during that era would remember the massive craze and popularity the show enjoyed across the country. The on screen chemistry between Sandhya and Suraj, portrayed by Deepika Singh and Anas Rashid, was widely loved by audiences and became one of the biggest highlights of the show.

However, even as the pair won hearts onscreen, reports of tension and disagreements between the two actors offscreen frequently grabbed attention. Rumours about the duo not getting along often made headlines during the show’s successful run. Now, in a recent conversation with Telly Masala, Kanica Maheshwari opened up about those long standing reports and even went on to confirm that there were indeed clashes between the lead actors during that phase.

Speaking about how rifts between the lead pair of a show can lead to its downfall, Kanica, referring to Seher Hone Ko Hai says, ''I do not want to comment because we are sailing in a very similar situation but yes, definitely impact hota hai. Woh energy khatam ho jaati hai na. Leads matlab lead woh hote hain jo dhaancha hote hain, matlab they are the, kaise bolun main? Khambhe hain. Ussi par sab khada hua hai. Agar wahi ek doosre se naraz ho jaayein, munh pher lein, toh dhaancha toh hilta hai na. Main yahi keh sakti hoon bas.''

When the interviewer questioned Kanica about reports of rifts between Deepika Singh and Anas Rashid and it affecting the ratings of the show, Kanica says, ''Yaar thodi bahut toh clashes hui thi aur uske baad mein kabhi baat karni band, phir baat karni shuru kar di. Phir kum baat karne lag gaye. Phir uska track alag ho gaya. Suraj alag track par aa gaya. Toh woh thoda bahut disturbance toh hui aur hum deeply sochte hain ki agar woh ladai nahi hui hoti toh shayad woh show aaj bhi chalta. Aaj bhi chalta. Jab Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai chal sakta hai na toh Diya Baati definitely chalta.''

Ask her how did it all start between Deepika and Anas and the actress says, ''Yaar pata hai aap jab romantic scenes karte ho ya phir bahut saare scenes karte ho, kahin na kahin clash hota hi hai. Woh ego clashes thi jo mujhe aisa lagta hai ki misunderstandings jo hoti hain na, unko agar baith ke clear kiya jaaye toh aap kaafi cheezein theek kar sakte ho. Lekin woh hota hai na, who takes the first step wali situation hoti hai aur wahin pe pehle aap pehle aap wali baat ho jaati hai aur gaadi nikal jaati hai.''

For those who do not know, Diya Aur Baati Hum enjoyed a long run on television and constantly dominated TRPs for years. While Deepika and Anas' onscreen chemistry did play a huge role, it was the storyline that went ahead to inspire people in real life too. Reports of men from small towns backing their wives to chase their dreams after watching the show emerged day in and day out. However, with time, several factors contributed to the show's sad end. It was further followed up with two sequels later on; 'Tu Suraj Main Saanjh,' starring Rhea Sharma and Avinesh Rekhi and 'Aankh Micholi' starring Khushi Dubey and Navneet Malik, Hitesh Bharadwaj,' however, both the shows tanked off in sometime.
