Vasudha's Priya Thakur REACTS to show DETHRONING Kyunki 2: 'Audience ko chaiye ek achi story..'

In an exclusive chat with India Forums, Priya Thakur, the actress who plays the titular character of Vasudha, speaks to us about this milestone. She also opens up about competing with a show as popular as Kyunki 2 and, by the end of the conversation, reveals how her life has changed after the show.

Congratulations Priya, your show has topped the TRP charts, despite the ongoing IPL season. How does it feel?

I know ye sachmein ek bahut great achievement hai ke during IPL bhi humara show itna acha kar raha hai especially tab jab viewers divided hote hai, proper engagement nahi mil paati hai shows ko lekin still Vasudha itna acha kar raha hai. Audience ka pyaar hai isliye ye sab ho pa raha hai.

Not only has the show topped the charts but it has also beaten Kyunki 2, which in itself is huge. Your comments on the same?

I would say it is not about competition ever kyunki 'Kyunki Saas Kabhi Bahu Thi 2' apne aap mein ek legendary show aur wo aaj nahi wo bahut time se hai toh usko compete kar ne ka toh sawal nahi uthta but still ek aisa show, jo bahut bada show hai jaise ki 'Kyunki' ki hum baat kar rahe hai usko beat karna toh ek feeling of gratefulness hai ke matlab audience ne itna pyaar diya, itna acha connect kia humare sath. I think audience ko aaj yahi chaiye ke unhe ek achi story mil jaye jis se woh genuinely connect kar paaye. Toh I think 'Vasudha' has managed to do that. Ek genuine story hai, genuine log hai, sab apna kaam karte hai toh I think isliye logo ko pasand aata hai toh mujhe bahut achha lagta hai.

What do you think is resonating with the viewers in terms of your show?

Yahi ek jo humare show mein khaas baat ye hai ki bahut relatable hai, har ghar ki kahani jaisa hai aur matlab aisa hai ki log itna easily connect ho paate hai kyunki show aisa hai, characters aise banaye gaye hai. Har kisi ko mauka diya gaya hai It is not about one particular person, it is not about Vasudha only, it is about everybody in the show. Toh bas bahut genuine cheeze hai, bahut hi genuine track chalte hai toh isliye mujhe lagta hai ke log hume pyaar karte hai.

How has your life changed after Vasudha?

Vasudha ke baad bahut kuch badla hai, profesionally mujhe bahut recognition mila hai aur agara main in person baat karu toh log mujhe pehechane ne lage hai. Whenever I step out of my house toh people say 'Oh Vasudha Vasudha, you are Vasudha.' Toh ye bahut hi meaningful cheeze hai aur roz jo mujhe apne social media par pyaar milta hai, messages aate hai, unko padh ke mujhe bahut grateful feel hota hai. Mujhe aisa lagta hai ke that is why I chose to be in this profession and I am so happy, thanks for all the love.
